In the UK ICE means in car entertainment as well as internal combustion engine. Anyway, now that confusion is out the way, I am due to get delivered my new car on the 1st of september. my old car had a 12gb internal HDD. I know the prius has A2DP as well as USB / iPod connectivity - i am keen to use the usb connectivity. Can anyone shed some light on the USB capability. I have about 65gb of music, ideally i would just purchase a 64gb usb stick, copy on to it the music i want, and then use that in the car. has anyone got any experience of using USB drives in the prius - can anyone explain what the ICE can and can't cope with. USB HDD? USB pen drives up to 16gb (and / or SDHC with adaptor as well) USB pen drives 32gb and upwards (and / or SDXC with adaptor as well) Also, does anyone know ICE can handle NTFS as well as FAT32, or is it just FAT32? -> if this isn't the right place to ask, just say and i will post this question in another section.
Id like to know too. When Beat Sonic releases their video input adapter I am hoping to add some type of video device. Im not sure if I will do an in car mobile video system or just an ipod or something.
I just got my car a week ago so have not had a ton of time.... I use my USB flash drive 16gb....I have about 2900 songs on it. You can search by artist,song,album or genre. I wanted playlists......So I went into iTunes , into my playlists and changed each song within a given playlist naming their genre. (IE: I would name each song in my "Current Faves" playlist Current Faves Genre) It can be done to all songs at once by highlighting all songs and then info tab. that was my biggest peeve, no playlists.....the above actions helped but still these Genre(playlists) will only come thru alphabetically and not in your exact order you wanted. But better then nothing. You can always hit the MODE button on steering wheel to pop onto BT which you can get your actual playlists from iPhone. all in all the USB is cool....I like the Picture viewer for slide show....just hoping the speedlock cable will allow me to views a slide show while driving. still waiting for that cable to arrive so i can install it. Not sure if that is correct name.....Its that cable that allows usage of many of the NAV features when in motion. Im not sure if it will help with the picture viewer though. I hope it does. what is that? is it a new NAV unit altogether? I only have the base model PIP. I think you have the top line correct? thanks Dan
i have a 16gb unit my son loaded for me. he's making a 32, but because of the location of the usb port, he said the size could be an issue?
another thing I have is a USB to SD card reader..its small and accepts Micro SD, SD and Sony Mem sticks...the cool thing about this is you can throw in a micro SD from your phone, or SD from a camera or stock from my sony camera....gives lots of choices I still wish there was a way to put a proper Playlist on a USB stick so its in order ect ect....the Genre menu is OK for this as I mentioned above but not in order.
