So I got a quote for a 2012 Prius 2 for around $25,910 OTD or somewhere near there, is this too much for just a 2? it seems to me that I could get a 3 with this price. Let me know what you all think
What is the price with out TTL? OTD prices are hard to know as there are different taxes and license fees all over the country. Check out Diannes prices for a quick check: Dianne's SoCal AUGUST 2012 DEALS thread for all things Prius!! | PriusChat
I have been shopping for several weeks. Based on my experience: $21,000 is an incredible price, if you can get it without any military or student rebate. It is really hard to find this price unless you happen upon a dealer trying to unload or maybe if you are in a highly competitive area like LA. They're out there, but you have lower probability of success, may have to wait and/or travel long distances. $22,000 is a really good price and can maybe get hear if you are patient and happen upon a hungry dealer. $22,700 - $22,900 seems to be a fair price that Dianne and enough other dealers are advertising to know it's not an aberration. I have contacted dealers throughout the Midwest, East and Northeast. Most dealers, I contacted are between $23,300 and $24,500 after competitive bidding including doc but before TTL. When I mentioned the above prices the standard response was: "if you can buy one at that price, go for it." I have learned that there isn't a lot of room in these cars and there isn't much behind the deal beyond what is public info. Some regions (like the southeast right now) have dealer paid incentives that cause some differences between regions. There may also be some differences in ad fees. How dealers get to the prices above without a loss, I haven't figured out. I'm getting ready to pickup a Blizzard Pearl Prius 2 with matts and body molding tomorrow for $22,691.50. I could maybe find a better deal if I held out for awhile, but felt the price was fair for me and the dealer. Plus, it is local and don't have to fly/drive which could add $300+ and a day of my time. Also, I can stop wasting time looking and start driving...
thank you all for your response. I live in the Midwest, MN to be exact..forgot to ask for before TTL price since I only contacted the dealership via email
ask for a breakdown. price for car, then line items for each charge that adds up to the total. you'll need this to compare apples to apples with other dealers. you migh also find you can eliminate some charges. all the best!
I am taking delivery of my New Prius C3 tomorrow and my OTD price is 23,935.72 with no additional options. Comparing to your 25K number, I am not sure if I would pay your number for a C2. I am located in NJ with 7% sales tax and about 450 for TTL.
$26K is about what I paid for my Two late last summer when they were in short supply. I would keep shopping as there are plenty of Prii on dealer lots now from what I'm seeing.
I paid $26300 which ended up at $28110 OTD in June for a gently used 3. I think prices were slightly higher then.
I paid sticker, 24,500, also it was the height of the gas prices and it is a 2012 mdl II, yes high, but thats life. When gas prices are low, the greater chance of getting a better price, the higher they go, the harder if at all.
thanks all. i will let yall know whenever i make a deal on a Prius and will let you all know what i got it for.
I paid $26,885 + TTL for my Three with solar sun roof option and tinted windows. I'd say that's pretty high for a two
I paid 23k in new england for a 2 with rugs, rear net and decal and rear (hatch area) carpet. I think it was a great price.
