At this? Gen III 2010+ Prius Main Forum.

    Eek!!!! Roman numerals!!! Witches!!! Witches!!!

So according to PriusChat Forum you have a Gen III/Model 2

Wonder where they got the roman numeral thing for the I, II and III generation Prius?

I wouldn't get too hung up about it. As you long as people know what you mean, Prius III/3 seems clear enough even if it's a dog whistle to some.

What Danny and the moderators decided to name the forums doesn't change Toyota's official naming and nomenclature. If you'd provide URLs of toyota.com web pages, PDFs, etc. contradicting what I've stated...

It also doesn't change the fact that the OP has a 2010 Prius II.

Notice nobody (or virtually nobody) else on Priuschat refers to Gen 3 Priuses as III/Two, 3/3, III/3 or nonsense like that?

But it does make all the over dramatization over I, II and III generation Prius look silly since the forum we are discussing it in does the same thing.

There'd be no drama if you stopped using your goofy nomenclature and didn't give people misinformation.

It does not work well because the 2010 used roman numerals to designate specific trims! Ths is why your choice to use the numeral III is considered confusing to many! Just use the model year and trim level when referring to Prii! A 2010 model III, a 2012 model 4, etc!

    Or, one could be a Bob Wilson :) and use ZVW30 (e.g. 2010 ZVW30 model II or 2011 ZVW30 model 2).

And I thought my profile clearly showed a 2012 Prius Model Three for the past three months. Deary me for my mistake, I should have asked you what I had, rather than looking at the Monroney sticker that Toyota put on the car.
Who do you mean by 'they', Kimosabe? Toyota, or PriusChat?

PriusChat has been around long before the 2010's came out, and it's a private forum, not a Toyota forum.

Actually I got it from Prius Chat Forum which uses Prius II and Prius III for generations also which makes sense as its typical for doing generations of cars (or anything else).

It works for PC, works for me. If it doesn't work for you, use what works for you.

Hello, I am so totally confused. I really would like some clarification. I bought a 2011 Prius last year. She has a 4 CD changer, Navigation/Moonroof package, Bluetooth, the solar roof/AC thing, back up camera, driver's side touch to lock door handle and satellite radio. The sheet that comes on the window listing all the options, etc says Prius 2 (or II or whatever). However, when I read the Edmunds site it sounds like I have a 3 (III, again, whatever). Help! Do I have a 2 or 3 or modified 3 or a 4 or a 77 or 59 or what? Anyone know? Thanks. Lori

Judging by your description and Toyota Vehicles : Toyota Announces Prices for 2010 Prius / Toyota, if you have no leather and don't have smart key system on the front passenger door + trunk, it looks like you have an '11 Prius Three (Toyota switched to spelling out the words) w/solar roof package.

Bluetooth points toward a three, you have the phone button on the steering wheel?

Hi there! Thanks for the speedy reply. I do have a BT phone button on the steering wheel. I WISH I had smart key tech on the trunk.

Overall, I have just few beefs w/the car: no trunk release by the driver, CRAPPY CRAPPY CRAPPY interior fabric and no auto on/off function for the headlights and a bit of a blind spot problem (that could be operator error, though! ) Other than that I am thrilled w/the car.

    Happy Friday eve!

If you do want to add SKS to more doors, it is possible. Someone figured it out. See How to add SKS to the hatch and passenger door on a 1 door SKS Gen III Prius | PriusChat.

I was pretty annoyed that Toyota went from 0-door (no SKS) and 3-door SKS (on Gen 2 Prius) to 1-door or 3-door SKS by making you pay way more (model IV or Four) or above to get it. That changed w/the '12 models, except model Three of the '12 went up in price due to included nav.

Heh, looks like they changed that because of the confusion you're trying to justify!

    Looks like they didn't.

And Toyota stopped using Roman numerals for trim levels and started using Arabic.

So Prius III/3 for a third generation Model three seems the to be the way to go.

    2012/3 is best of all.
