Does anyone know if I need to have my License Plate ID before I submit my application to the California DMV for single HOV lane access? I just bought my car and do not yet have the License Plate # assigned. Thanks in advance for any responses, Dan
I don't live in CA, and in OR we only have about 5 miles of HOV lane, but I think I recall reading that you only need your VIN, since that uniquely identifies the car.
No, you do not need your license plate # before submitting the application. I just wrote in "New Car" like many other folks under the License Plate number column. Justinc
Thanks to everyone above for the responses. I'm eager to get the stickers to get the other benefit of this car. Lb
Don't send in the form until you know (or believe) that the DMV has processed your VIN, otherwise they will return the application. See http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=1...ndpost&p=161099 for details and a DMV phone number to call to let you check the VIN status. I've asked my dealer to tell me when they have sent in the DMV paperwork, they say they do it within seven working days. I've also asked them to speed that up if they can! BTW, I was told by my dealer that California doesn't allow the dealer to file registrations electronically for hybrids, so the dealer shouldn't charge you the $28 electronic filing fee. fd
No. I got mine weeks before I got my license plate. quote=LogicBored,Jan 4 2006, 10:56 PM] Does anyone know if I need to have my License Plate ID before I submit my application to the California DMV for single HOV lane access?
