Anyone has 2012 Prius Three with PLUS Performance Package?

If I'm not mistaken the dealer installs the plus package......but I could be wrong.


Why not just order all the pieces & do the install ur self......ud save a lot in labor.

 

It is a port installed option. Order your car. It only takes 30 days from the factory to you driving your new car home and you get exactly what you want, not what some sales person wants you to buy. EZ.

My guess is this would be much more expensive than the factory option, since the new parts won't be cheap, plus you're paying twice for many parts (like wheels, tires, etc.).

 

My suggestion is to search the online inventory of dealers in your area. If no luck, visit (or call and speak to the telesales department) the larger bay area dealers (Sunnyvale is where I got my Prius) and see what inventory they have incoming. If nothing matches what you want, ask them to "preference" the configuration you want, which means they'll make a request which hopefully the region will be able to accommodate within a reasonable period.

 

If you already have the car and later decide you have to have the Plus Perf package, you can buy all the parts and get-r-done Another reason to order this package separately is if your car is not one of the Plus Perf colors. You can have the body parts painted in your color and have a very unique Plus Perf Prius.

If ur handy & have a good hook up at the dealer u can do this urself & save a few $$$

I got My plus body kit for $827 out the door & they come painted. The TRD springs are around $200. The TRD sway bar is about $250. The 17" wheels can be gotten for about $1400. Tires can run $200 each. The mats are prob $150. Give or take a few hundred & ur looking at about $2800-$3000. A good diy'ere can get all this done in a day.

Thats just my 2 cents worth.

 

It's cheaper to get the parts and Diy. Then you can recover approx. $500 by selling your Oe 15" wheels.

 

Or keep the 15's once you find your Plus Perf Prius only gets 46 mpg But that's OK as it looks cool as hell and handles awesome

Another option: do it yourself, omit the 17" wheels & tires, still looks cool PLUS you keep your mileage. Maybe a small handling decrease, but better than the MPG hit.

I would not install the springs with the 15" wheels. I am planning to put my car back to stock soon. The spring rates are not tuned for the 15" wheels and the car bounces excessively, especially after some miles have accumulated. The ride is also very, very soft.

 

Soft ride??? Is it my tires why I feel every line & minor bump in the road? Mine feels very firm. The struts could use a bit more rebound dampening but not too bad the way they are. But that too soft confuses me. I put two cases of water in my hatch yesterday and the car didn't even go down at all when I set them in there If it rode any stiffer it would be annoying on the street. The way it is I 100% avoid broken up rough roads. It might be Minnesota roads as we have some of the nastiest roads in this country even worse than Chicago and Detroit.

The bigger the rim, the less sidewall there will be on the tire. Smaller rim, more sidewall.

The smaller rim with more sidewall will have a softer ride because there is more rubber. This will be the opposite for the bigger rim.

 

I put a 100lb floor jack and a 100lb toolbox in the rear hatch area, and the rear end sagged significantly.

When I had F8L's 17" wheels, the car felt significantly firmer. The chatter and vibration I was getting with 38/36 was borderline insane. But with the 15" wheels and TRD springs, the car feels mushy and pillow soft...
