Got the call I wanted - Nashua NH

Just got the notice that my 2006 should be in my hands in late January.
I originally ordered a 2005 in September 2005, didn't push the order because of the tax rebate, changed my order to a 2006 on Dec 11, and got the call today.

Got another phone call today (Jan 5) that the car has "flipped to ground category," which I guess in real English means that the car is on a truck heading to the dealer. I might be able to sit in my new '06 prius as soon as Saturday after almost 4 months of anticipation!

Part of my obsession is trying to figure out whether to get 4 snow tires (I'm near Boston). I can't figure out what the deal is with the tire pressure sensor, so I guess I'll just wait until I have the car and figure out what to do then.

I did purchase WeatherTech floor mats for the front and trunk. After 25 years of owning used cars, this is my first "real" new car. I want to keep it as clean and new looking as possible.

I have been devouring the posts for all the insights I can get. Thanks to each of you for the wealth of information.

Looking forward to trying out pulse and glide techniques, and smiling from ear to ear as I drive.

 

YAY! I picked up my 2006 Driftwood with package 5 (HI) yesterday, 4 months to the day that I placed my order. I love it already, and I'm only 20 miles into it. Wish it were warmer here so I could sit in the car in the garage, fool with the settings, and not freeze.

Thanks to those who contributed information about what to do when picking up the car. The only problem I had was that the steering wheel was not straight. My sales rep incorrectly communicated an alignment problem, so things didn't get fixed at first. When I did finally get the tech in the car, his first words were, "Well the alignment is great, but the steering wheel is obviously off kilter." (do'h.) Anyway, they fixed it right away after that.

I asked for, and received, the pre-delivery checklist. But it was the 2004 version, and they obviously photocopy a list that's already filled-out. I pointed out the differences between the checklists, but from what I've read, it's really the dealer's problem if they don't have the right and complete checklist in my file.

I also had asked for a pack of valet cards. The sales rep had no idea what I was talking about, so I figured this was one of those places that didn't have the cards. However, the cards were there, sitting in the center console. So now the rep knows a bit more about what comes with a prius.

I've got WeatherTech mats coming this week, and I'm deciding if I need snow tires. Probably should make the investment for safety's sake.
