Hello C-owners, We just test drove a C3 with alloy wheels (no moonroof) and the sticker price is 23,386. The dealer said that this is a completely non-negotiable price since they have so few of these hot cars in stock. The out-the-door cost comes to 25,500 with all fees and 7.75% sales tax near Cleveland, OH. From what I've been reading on this forum, the sticker price seems a bit too high (we were expecting more around 22,600 sticker, or below). Any C3 owners that payed a comparable price? Any insight on the price this dealer is offering us is greatly appreciated! I just wanted to mention that alloys are not a necessity for us and neither are all the meaningless extra options that comes with this price ($75 first aid kit!!!! really?). Even the color isn't our first choice (magnetic gray) but the dealer said they will trade with another dealer that has the color we want for the same price. Thanks in advance!
The MSRP on a Three with alloy wheels is $22,785. Most cars come with non-negotiable mats at another $225, for a total of $23,010. Everything above that is stuff you don't want to pay for. I'd shop around too. Check nearby dealer stock at Auto Trader; you can do similar searches at cars.com and edmunds.com
I would go to cars.com, or someplace like that, to look around. First, go to the descriptions of these cars, by model, on this site to see which car you can live with. I started with the 4 and worked my way down to the 2. Then I looked online til I found just what I wanted. Worked 2 dealers and got one down 700 from the sticker and bought it Thursday. I am buying my own mag wheels and leather seats. I chose the 2 because I thought it was best bang for the buck. I did not need touch start or the fancy navigation system. Just how I did it. Dan loving my choice and just home from making some electricity around town
Thanks for the input. Trying to look at all nearby dealers that have this car available. Fingers crossed for a good price!
You can get a "better" price than on the sticker but buying one of these is not like buying cars, for me, in the past. Apparently these things don't sit on the lot long enough for us to get a "deal". When I bought our 03 Vibe gt it was on a dealer's lot next to the 05s. They couldn't sell it, had a 6 speed manual. It listed for 22k. I bought it for 14 minus 2 more I had on my GM credit card. Was driving a brand new car home for 12 grand. I was only able to get 700 off this Prius, from sticker. Some here have done better but that was all I could do. Missed one Prius C over 300.00. The salesman just would not do it. Best of luck. Go prepared. This forum will tell you just about anything you need to "arm" yourself before trying to cut a deal. Dan
Just for the record, I bought a new standard 2012 Prius yesterday for about $4000 below MSRP. (end of the month, need to meet numbers, etc.)
Great deal. I too have seem some great prices on the standard Prius. Wish I had wanted one of those, but I didn't. Dan
UPDATE- A dealer 300mi away from us just accepted our offer of 22,400 which includes a Prius C3 w/ alloy wheels, all weather mats, and delivery charge (to have the car delivered to our door by a truck so as to not increase the mileage of the vehicle at all). They kept mentioning something about meeting monthly quotas, so I think purchasing the car at the end of the month helps. Thanks for all your responses! (PS-I found this car through autotrader.com)
That is great. Thanks for letting us know. This forum is a great place to get help and to understand how to buy. Now, you can come here with questions about your brand new car, like I do. Dan
Shop around! Mine cost a decent amount less ($22, 021 out the door) and that interest rate is too high. Well, if you have poor credit you may be stuck, but if you have good credit then that rate is soo high. I got 2.49% after some negotiating. I think I was lucky, but please shop around! No alloys for me though, I couldn't find any with alloys that didn't cost at least $1000 more. SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 ? 2
How is that possible? Ridiculous price, out the door... do you mean inclusive of taxes and title documentation fee? What is the tax rate you paid for, only if you are willing to tell us? Here they say they mostly sell Prius Cs only for sticker price; whereas, they give a decent discount on the regular liftback. Mine added up to 250 documentation fee+ taxes at 7.75% over the 22,400.
Congrats on your new prius C purchase ! could you please share what price you paid for before taxes and documentation fee?
I paid invoice on a c3 with alloy wheels, this is obviously before tax and dealer fees (destination etc). It was $21780 I believe (have to get my invoice out.) I added the warranty that they offered because I drive a LOT and will burn through ToyotaCare in a year and a half.
Also sales tax is 8.75% (should have bought it in Cleveland it looks like!) but I only paid that on the difference between the trade in amount and the invoice price plus the warranty I added in. Basically if you count all the crazy fees (plate transfer, documentation, transfer fee) I paid about sticker. I traded in my 2009 Vibe 5 speed. Man, I'm gonna miss that car, and so is my left foot. I got a shorter loan period than I had on the Vibe, got the warranty added in like I had on the Vibe (which I'm sure I'll NEVER use! Typical!) and I will be saving at the pump. Right now my insurance is charging a little more for the new car, but I assume that'll go down in 6 months.
