Like the title says guys. I left my keys in my other car not near my home and all I have is the key part from the fob that I took out for some odd reason. I was able to unlock the car with that little key, but is there any way to turn on the car without the fob? Thanks guys.
When you were driving to where the car is now parked, did you see a message about "key missing?" Our 2010 came with two FOBs. Where are they? But you did remind me to get another spare. I don't know where my wife put hers so in effect, we're down to one. After checking Ebay, I'll see if we can get another one. Bob Wilson
I drove my other car and only kept that key in my pocket and put the others in the trunk so I wouldnt loose them. We ended up getting dropped off at home and left the other car in the parking structure with all the keys in there... Which left me keyless for the C
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Toyota's 2 year free roadside maintenance help you with such issues? Still trying to learn about the c, so please bear with me.
No .... I have the key, I don't have the remote. Like I said, I was able to unlock the car with the key. If it opens the car, why not let us turn it on as well with it?
Because it doesn't have a mechanical ignition? The 2 has this, the 3 and up use the electronic fob so all you have to do is push a button to start. Afraid this is just your screwup for leaving the fobs elsewhere!
Any locksmith can unlock the car, do you want them to drive off with your car? That is why the immobilizer is an added security, without the key fob, the engine can't start. Vincent
It's disturbing that the salesman didn't properly demonstrate the smart key system to the OP at delivery. As I posted at wow, u can drive w/o the keys | PriusChat (The yellow light and beeping are true on the 2nd and 3rd gen. Not sure about the c.)
Yeah the problem is that the remote is the engine key... and what you have is the door key. Sorry, but you're out of luck :/ SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 ? 2
