Hey, how's it going? If the plug-in feature of the Prius Plug-In (PiP) were ignored, where would the PiP fall in the line of 3rd Gen Prius models? In terms of features and such, the PiP seems to be better than the Prius Two and Prius Three, but is it better than the Prius Four and Prius Five? The 95/50 mpg is only if I used the plug-in feature, right? For this comparison, let's just say I would never use the plug-in feature. Thanks, Vic
Thanks for the replies. I am sure the standard Plug-In is not as good as the Prius Five, but is it at least as good as the Prius Four, or is it more between the Prius Three and Four? It has heated seats, for example, which comes standard on the Prius Four. Vic
i don't know all the specs, but it doesn't have everything the four has. and i'm assuming you're talking about the base?
the four has a few things the pip has and the pip a few the few has, so it's not exact. it's closer to the three than the four from what has been reported here before tho.
the main features of the 4 that the Base lacks are Softex seats with a power 8-way driver's seat, premium audio (but not nav), and auto-dimming mirror. note also that the base lacks the possibility of adding the solar roof package, which for the 3 gets you the solar roof + ventilation system, while for the 4 also gives you premium nav, Safety Connect, and the Heads-Up Display.
If that's the case, if you also don't care about the green HOV stickers, you shouldn't spend the extra $ on the PiP.
That's assuming it does cost extra. There's some dealerships that have too many of these cars on their hands – one dealership in SD is apparently giving $3k off – combined with $4k in rebates from the feds and CA – it might actually be cheaper than a corresponding Three.
My question was theoretical. I would definitely use the plug-in if I had the PiP, of course, and the green HOV stickers that are good until January 2015 are a great incentive, but I don't want to rely on those two things and didn't want them to be in the consideration when deciding between the Prius Four and the PiP. Thanks.
Per Eligible Vehicles - Single Occupant Carpool Lane Use Stickers, they're good until January 1, 2015.
Thanks for the reply. That was a typo on my part, and I did know it would be good until 2015. I have no idea why I put 2013... haha. Thanks.
