latest # of HOV stickers issued?

In my case, purchased the car on 11/27. FastTrek paper work 11/28. Eveything mailed into DMV 11/29. Check was cashed 12/15 with CA DMV stamp plus my VIN on the back of the check but no sticker number.

Hoping to get the stick some time this week, and I'll report the number back.

 

I just checked the back of my cashed check, and I also do not see a sticker number. However, I did notice my license plate number along with the DMV stamp. There are some other scribbles on the back as well, but I don't think it's my VIN#. I will report back as well when my stickers come in.

 

I don't have the stickers yet so I can't absolutely prove it, but just below the stamp is the license number written and that number just above 45,000 which I am pretty sure is the sticker number.

 

jsf: BTW, I don't mean it in a way that you made that up or anything... just that there's no such number on my cashed check as I am waiting anxiously for my stickers to arrive.

 

No problem. Both the plate and what I am sure is the sticker number were hand written, so I assume there may not be a rigorous procedure and what is written on the back of the check may vary from person to person.

 

ok, my stickers got here today. the number is 391xx. hope that's help.

 

I don't know how true this is, but someone told me that CA DMV has already processed a little over 53 thousand apps. I mailed my application a week ago and they have not cashed the check yet. But I'm not worried, because it seems that it's taking an average of 2 weeks for them to cash your check and about 4 days later the stickers arrive. That means that I should be about 2 weeks away from traffic freedom! That is, of course, until there are so many hybrid vehicles that the carpool lane will be just as congested as the regular lanes.

 

CBS5 in bay area reported that, as of 12/27, more than 39,500 carpool lane stickers have been issued. Here's the link:

You must live in a state that understands and cares about the environment. Here in Texas, I was told I don't need to have an HOV sticker on my Prius as long as I have 2 or more people riding in the car with me. They have never heard of such a concept of allowing a hybrid vehicle with one person to drive in the HOV lane.

Okay boys and girls.... finally got my stickers today

Issue date was 12/29/2005 Sticker # 422XX

So there's the update

 

I mailed my application about 2-3 weeks ago and so far my check is not even cashed. I am wondering when it will be cashed and when I will be receiving my stickers.

 

I sent mine in late November and just got the stickers... I figured with all the gov't holidays and such this time of year the delays were to be expected... it was about 40 days from mail to receipt of the decals.

 

It looks like they have slowed down a lot. Back in the September timeframe I got mine in just over 30 days from start to finish and that included signing up for the FastTrack service. Everything was done by mail.

 

I just got mine, it is 40057.

 

"About 215 new applications arrive in DMV offices in Sacramento each Monday through Friday. If that rate continues, the 50,000 limit could be reached by March."

Purchased car on 12/1
Got Fastrak on 12/2 and also mailed in application with check
Check cashed by DMV on 12/19
Stickers delivered on 1/3/06. Sticker # 41,xxx

12/9/06 Bought car
12/20/06 Mailed HOV application with check. Wanted to provide enough time for VIN number to show up.
1/5/06 Called DMV today and was told VIN was just updated/added to system today.

I guess I'll wait to see if I get my application mailed back to me if they processed it prior to today.

 

I also called DMV to check after I mailed my paperwork, and they did not have my VIN# in their system. However, I was still able to get my stickers. As you can see from my dates, I didn't wait long to submit all my paperwork. I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.
