Longo Toyota is giving us Sirius Radio free for nine months. Are other dealers doing this? We absolutely love our new Prius! B)
I got the same deal from Westbury Toyota, Long Island New York. 9 months of Sirius free, they said it was compliments of the dealer. The satellite radio works great, but when you go under an overpass it conks out...
Sirius works through the MFD, just like FM Radio. You can preset stations, and there is a text button that displays the song and the artist. It's neat! I guess it works through the roof antenna; no additional antenna was required.
That's pretty cool! Are doing the same thing with XM or just Sirius? I ordered my Prius thru Longo also, but really want to get XM integrated with my radio/MFD. Hubby has XM in his Accord and I've really taken to it over the last 2 years...love listening to NHL games and some specific favorite channels.
"I guess it works through the roof antenna; no additional antenna was required." I doubt it uses the same antenna. They may have placed it under the dash? The Sirius antenna from Toyota is huge and you wouldn't miss it if you looked.
Wow, this is cool. Has anyone else gotten this deal? I'm expecting mine in the next week at Stevinson West near Denver.
I've looked on the Toyota website many times and didn't notice Toyota offering a OEM Sirius solution for the Prius. The sales guy I bought the car from didn't think there was one either. Can anyone point me to more info on this? (link?) Thanks...
I noticed a black box to the right of the rear view mirror, about the same size as the mirror; I'll check it out later but that might be the antenna for the Sirius Radio...unless anyone can tell me what ELSE it might be!
Aw, man! I'd rather wait it out and shell out some $ for the XM. I don't care too much for Sirius's offerings. I have ~15 favorite channels for XM (including the NHL game channels) and don't want to have to acquaint myself with a whole new satellite system.
I've got a question for those that got the SIRIUS radio installed at Longo Toyota. Any idea what part or model numbers were installed? I recently purchased a 2007 PRIUS and negotiated that they give me the SIRIUS radio for free. I didn't know at the time that it wasn't an option, and the sales person didn't tell me that it wasn't. Come to find out from the service dept. when they called about our due bill that they don't make a SIRIUS receiver for the Prius. Only XM. The dealer offered to put in a SIRIUS receiver, but i'm not sure what type they are planning to install. They say it costs $200 dollars more than the XM receiver that Toyota offers. So, I'm just wondering what is Longo installing so that I can give that information to the service dept. at my dealer so that they can finally install it and finish my due bill.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(mossy24 @ Nov 29 2006, 05:43 PM) </div> It was a special promotion offered thru some toyota dealers. I had a Sirius unit installed when I bought my 2006 in May - '06. The only thing that was available was Sirius. They included a 9 month free subscription. I'm sure that Sirius was paying for the promo and supplying the hardware. The hardware made for Toyota by ...... someone help me here, I forgot the name. I bought my Prius at Westbury Toyota in Long Island, NY. they may be associated with Longo. Westbury is a Penski dealership. That reminds me. I have to renew my subscription in January.
Yes, Longo did offer a “complimentary†install and 9 mo subscription. The model they offered has a couple of issues though: Huge antenna next to the Rear View Mirror Many drop outs even when driving in open roads The “text†mode will display limited characters per line My sales person said that Toyota is expecting some new parts (?) to fix the drop-outs but could not tell me when this might happen.
