I just bought a new Prius C. I drive 120 miles a day. So far I'm getting 61MPG which is way more than expected! So the car is paying for itself with the gas $ savings. I'm wondering if I should get the extended warranty. I think I should just based on the fact of the miles I'm going to put on it.
That's great! Some of that 120 has to be highway miles, right? HOW are you getting such high mpg? I really need to study up on maximizing my mpg. I commute 80 miles a day and average around 50 mpg, maybe 53 on a really good day.
That was my first week driving it. I got 550 miles before I had to fill up. So i figure I burned 9 gallons. The only thing I did was to watch the ECO monitor and tried to keep it in the economy range and not go into the power area. This is tough to do because you are driving pretty slow and everybody passes you. I will keep a closer eye this week and report my MPG.
at 120 miles a day, an extended warranty is not your best bet. if you were driving 10,000 miles a year, then ya maybe. but i think you will find a car that is used daily and taken care of will last much longer than one that is not used daily and taken care of
That is great to hear. I'm waiting to take delivery on my C and I also have a long commute, 106 miles round trip. Most of it is expressway driving on pretty flat roads in Michigan. So curious to see what kind of mileage I get. So you keep it in ECO mode the whole time you're driving on the highway?
yes, i leave it in ECO mode all the time. i dont really notice a change in the AC or whatever is diminished. i also only drive the speed limit (or 5 over) and i lock in the cruise control at 5MPH over the posted speed limit every chance i get. You just have to get used to people passing you CONSTANTLY! Stay in the right lane and smile at all the money your saving.
I am getting around 58ish MPG everyday on my 120 mile commute. The speed limit for the first leg, 35 miles, is 70, so I do 65. For the last 20, it's a 60 speed limit, and I do 55. And then about 5 miles on driving in city traffic once off the interstate. What kind of speed limits are you driving in? Heavy traffic?
