2011 is current model and it's basically same gen as 2005, seriously long in the tooth. When is the next major revision?
Yeah, wow, the Rav4 is very much due for a redesign. Was reved for MY '01, then '06. At that rate, the '11 should have been all new. But, looks like even the '12 won't be all new. I don't know what's up there.
1st Gen ran for 6 years as well (95-00). I would've thought that the 2012 model would be a redesign. Is it not now? Has it been pushed to 2013?
Haven't heard a peep about a '12 Rav4 at Detroit show. I was expecting an all new one this year for '12 MY.
I doubt that. I think it is going to be more like the bev ford focus, where a supplier (magna in the case of ford, tesla in the case of toyota) takes an only slightly modified version of a shell and adds the electronic drive train. This is great from a cost point of view, as the cost of the shell is inexpensive because of the rav 4, but the electronic version does not increase the price of the normal vehicle. If the electronic rav 4 is highly sucessful, the next version will be designed to be both electric and gas from the ground up. Its an exciting car, since we have not seen an electronic SUV since the last BEV Rav 4. I though the dates for a EV Rav 4 was a 2013 model in 2012. That would mean the regular rav 4 will get a redesign for a 2012 or 2013 model year.
I almost made this thread again! I cannot find anything online about a new 2013. Anybody got anything? Will it be new...?

Thanks. I'd be surprised if they discontinue the V6 option. Hopefully toyota makes a true announcement soon. I'd like to see it keep the 3rd row also, even though it's not used a great deal.
I doubt they will as the 2GR engine is a pretty good engine and quite fuel efficient as demonstrated on the 2010 Camry even though it's a few years old.
Bump. I still cannot see much about this. It sure seems 2013 is indeed a new model year but still the only pics I've seen have the camouflage on them.
