I got my 2012 Prius about a month ago. It came with the Vehicle Shield Package on it. This was not a package that I wanted to buy, but since it was already on it, I had no choice. However a few days ago it was raining and I noticed when I opened the door to get into the car and the rain drops were hitting the seats that the drops of water were immediately being absorbed into the fabric! From what I understand about Fabric Guard, it's suppose to make the water (or other liquids) bead up so that you can merely wipe them off before they get the chance to soak into the fabric and cause a stain. I'm wondering if anyone else that their Prius had this installed on it has the same thing happen. I am thinking that when my car was at the port that they didn't even put any of it on the seats of my car. I'm also wondering if the seats are the only fabric that they treat with this option installed or do they treat all the fabric items on the car. Any one have a clue?
I plan on it. Just haven't been down that way yet. They are about 70 miles from here, but will set up an appointment and see what they tell me about it. I wanted to see if anyone else had the same issue. Thanks...
I was told that the Fabric Guard goes onto all fabric in the car, so it's on the seats and carpet. I was also told that this isn't so much of a water-proof thing as it is an anti-stain thing. I have no idea what the difference is. But I notice that when I get stains on my seats or carpet, it somes right out. I've spilled a lot of coffee on my seats and carpet. I can't tell you whether it was all worth it or not, as maybe a good spraying of ScotchGuard (which I believe is more of a water proofer) would have done the same. But, the dealer put it on, so I didn't have to worry about it. I'm kinda lazy in that way. Mike
From what I've been reading about Fabric Guard is that it still is suppose to be water repellent, but also oil repellent this way it keeps the stains from getting into the fabric. I ran into this article about Scotch Guard and I thought it was very interesting. Get a chance read it. The people that have been using Scotch Guard on their seats may be surprised what they learn about it! ScotchGuard vs. 303 High Tech Fabric Guard
