Does anyone's Sirius installation sound good? I'm talking about the sirius prius type installation that attaches to the MFD?
I installed a Sirius Sportster Replay yesterday. Using the FM transmitter, it had poor quality. I bought a Radio Shack $20 casette adapter for external CD Players. It worked great. If this will help you can email me for more details at [email protected]
I installed Sirius following Jon's excellent DVD tutorial. Sound is excellent except the occasional overpass or thick tree crown cover where there is a short cut-out.
Mine sounds at least as good, or perhaps slightly better than the FM radio. I'm also driving two aftermarket MTX amps, two pairs of Infinity component speakers, and a JL Audio subwoofer, so I've got substantially better sound than stock. What are you hearing? Static and electrical noise, compression artifacts, reduced frequency response, compressed dynamics, what?
I've been listening to E-Street radio on my Starbase for the past couple of months and it sounds great. Hardwired FM modulation. Bass is a little light but I'm still happy with the sound.
I took my Starmate yesterday, used the home antenna and just put it on the dash and the reception wasn't that good. According to the LCD on the Starmate, I was getting full reception from the satellite, when I moved it towards the antenna, it sounded better, but I couldn't drive that way.
Well, I bought the kit that jon from factoryinteracive is selling, only cheaper cause I got it through a Toyota parts place. I just heard that people said there was a great deal of static and stuff like that. I also bought the better low profile antenna for the installation. I should be installing it next weekend right before Howard starts, so I'll let you know....THanks.
I also have the sirius sportster but I connected it to the aux input. I ran the power from the lighted under the dash components and ran the aux cable from under the arm rest, under the carpet and behind the dash into the case with the flip cover. All the wires are out of the way and it sounds great. I can also remove the portable unit and listen to Sirius in the house.
I installed the Sirius receiver that hooks up with the MFD in my car yesterday and it sounds great. I compared the sound to my friend's Sirius Sportster model and it was exactly the same. Yes, the talk shows do sound a little tinny, but the music is perfect. Also, the installation was a snap. It's amazing how simple it is to take that car apart. I didn't even have to take the entire dashboard apart....only the lower glovebox and the air vent to the right of the MFD. Thanks Evan for the advice. This is the Sirius COnnect receiver from metroptn.
