I'm not sure if this has been posted before so please forgive me if it has. I found this in depth study which shows the total lifetime carbon footprint of a PIP vs Prius vs a traditional gas vehicle. Definitely de-bunks the myth that the battery production nulls any advantage from the better fuel economy.

What would be more interesting would be to find out who funded the study. Kinda like the sugar industry funding a study against Sweet-N-Low.
