Hello everyone! I'm Jar and a new Prius owner and PriusChat member I was wondering if any of you discovered something you never knew about your Prius until after you bought one and/or read the manual. I discovered that it has hill assist. I don't if this is a standard feature on cars since I'm not really auto savvy, but it's a neat feature.
I bought mind not knowing about the 4 window auto up and down system. Love that feature in summer weather!
I think that the feature is with one flick of the switch the windows will either go completely up or down. Actually, sometimes I find this a PITA. If I want to park with my windows down slightly it can be cumbersome to get them exactly where you want them.
I didn't know that the rear seat head rests could be tilted forward. I don't usually have rear-seat passengers, and this really improves the view.
You must be new to the internets as well. Welcome to the information superhighway. Be careful though, it's full of road rage.
I didn't know: I'd get bluetooth music as well as phone. The windows go up and down by magic. I could make the driver's seat go up and down. The rear headrests flip forward making it much easier to fold the rear seats. One of the reasons it gets such good fuel economy is that the dash displays are so effective in retraining the driver. I have the choice of running with the DRL on or off. There is no locking storage anywhere in the car. I have to supply my own. I can install satellite radio at a reasonable price by going aftermarket. The cupholder fits my favorite Starbucks mug. There is sunglass storage in the overhead console. And I'm still learning.
I can open and lock the door with my bare hands. Hill assist (used to use both my feet on the gas & brake pedals!) Wrap around airbags (front, side, knee). Beautiful LED DRLs. Cabin air filtration system (usually found in airplanes only) Rear seat could be folded to provide a true, lie-flat sleeping area for two (bring your own sleeping bags).
You can have 2 phones connected to the cars bluetooth at the same time, one for music, and one for the phone. The car will automatically switch to the one connected to the phone if you get a call.
Oh, and if you have one of those bases for an infant car seat, you dont have to take the base out to fold down the seat back.
Did not know there is no way to disable the traction control system- for some this has caused issues in snow, etc..
Didn't know I could get up to 20 min + out of the AC system without the ICE firing up. Works out great on my lunch breaks...
In the windshield washer fluid reservoir, there is a yellow graduated dipstick with a big tab on the top. This is a very helpful feature for checking the level, since the main tank is buried inside the metal body.
