Driver's Door sounds funny when I shut it.

    Ok ok I know it's small. When I shut my driver's door there is a reverberating sound similar to a spring being stretched and then plucked. It closes fine, the window works, and all the functions of the door work. It closes tight. It just has this hollow spring sound right after I close the door. None of the other doors make this sound.

    I was at the local Toyota Dealer today for work on the prius (check my other thread about that trip) and I found a gen II prius unlocked... so I got in and closed the door and no spring sound. It sounded just like my other 3 doors... so something must be up with my door. My car is a 2006 Prius with JBL package. Anyone have this issue before and found the fix?

    I think there is a TSB about the doors. There is some problem with the plastic part where the door meets the frame that cause problems even with the keyless door locks.

    Of course your description is vague. Is it a loose wire in the door? is it the part at the front of the door that adds tension opening the door. If you shake the door when it is open does it make the noise, or is it the noise of the door mating up to the frame like weird metal rubbing. I would swing the door around wildly with it open and see if anything in the door is loose.

    Good video. I remember one post that the door sounded hollow after the door skin was replaced. I guess the door has a replaceable front skin and was not repaired correctly and came loose. But yours sounds like a loose bracket or something. Would be easy to see I bet if you take the inside door panel off.

    I haven't really tried to get into the panel yet.... anyone have a schematic of the door?

    You can try chilton's... (read this)

    But that sounds like some window regulator or something is loose inside the door.

    Mine is making this exact same sound. Any conclusion, here? Doing research before I get into the door.
