Any Priuschat locals on the Big Island, Oahu Maui, Kauai waiting for the new year? I would rather wait an extra 3 more hours on the west Coast and celebrate my new years eve and enjoy a big luau and loud firecrakers, instead of watching a lame glass ball drop from a pre-recorded Times Square coverage with Dick Clark. "Mahalo and Happy New Year"
Just sitting here waiting for the new year in another 6 and a half hours or so. We get to watch a pre-recorded Dick Clark and the gee wiz ball dropping . There has to be something better. The trade winds are very light so it's going to get very smoky (as well as loud). Cheers and Happy New Year!
Just celebrated here in Seattle. The space needle looked better than ever! Not sure how it compares to the other west coast celebrations but I am sure it would be better for you to watch than the old ball dropping in New York. Happy New Year! Carlos
Have you noticed L.A. really has no New Years Eve bash. Why? because L.A's the gangsta capitol of the entire United States. Can't have very large public gatherings late at night because some fool has to shoot his Glock 9 or AK47 up in the air. So, L.A. throws the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl to represent the West Coast instead.
Because it would cause rioting to break out somewhere, for some reason or other. Bad things like to happen during large gatherings with no real purpose in LA. Someone gets hurt by accident, someone else thinks it was on purpose and pulls a gun, escalating to a shooting, then an all out war. SWAT team swarms in with their shields, throwing tear gas grenades, people panic and more get hurt. No, it just wouldn't work in LA with a NYE celebration in the streets of downtown.
A music festival was planned to welcome the New Year in downtown Los Angeles. It was canceled at the last moment on account of the rain forecast. New Year's Revelers Left Without a Cause
Downtown for the last couple of years have tried a new years eve celebration, but it is always attended by a thousand at the most and seems pretty dull.
