I'm about to buy my first car ever (Prius C4) and was told by one dealership that the demand is so high that it's sticker price only. Has anyone been able to negotiate on the price and if so, how much? I also wonder if this is region dependent. The dealership that told me sticker price only was in Ohio, but I plan to buy my Prius in California. Thanks for your help.
Where are you in CA? I bought my C4 in Toyota of Orange for about $1,000 less than sticker price with moonroof, cargo net, mat, trunk mat and bumper protection. That was a little more than a month ago, June 3rd.
I negotiated my Prius C2 about 900 under MSRP. The key is contacting multiple dealers. I picked mine up June 22nd and had to wait approx 2 weeks for delivery. Good luck!
If you are buying in California contact Mike Dowl at DCH Simi Valley. He was the only dealer I talked to that didn't make me feel like an idiot for wanting a C under MSRP and he actually TOLD me about a car on special for LESS than I asked for (it sold before I got there but I couldn't believe he actually told me about it). I know they have a couple of 4s in right now. I got my 2 for a thousand under sticker about a month ago. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
How can you be sure it wasn't already sold when he told you it was on "special"? The term "bait and switch" comes to mind...
He had a silver 2 on some ridiculous special that I can't remember now but I wasn't able to get out until Sunday (the special started Friday and it sold that night). When I couldn't get out there he found me the color I wanted for the price I asked for. No haggling at all.
