The hatch switch rubber on my Prius has become sticky and leaves black gunk on my fingers. After reading other posts about this I learned that the whole switch would have to be replaced. Is there a less expensive way that to fix this issue, other than buying a new switch? I guess I can put tape over the rubber for now, but I want it fixed right. My Prius is outside of the warranty for this part, so I doubt they will replace it for free.
Yeah, Tape is the only thing I could think of... or find a Crazy-Rays or Pick-and-Pull junk yard/ebay and try and buy one that way...
For now I just put some tape over the sticky rubber handle. Seems insane to have to purchase a new or used part just for this. You'd think Toyota would pay for it though.
Have the same problem. Considering this is only a 5 yr old vehicle it is a little disappointing for a vehicle from a Japanese manufacturer.
I think that price is outrageous, for a part that should last the life of the vehicle. We're are talking about a rubber coating that is supposed to be designed to survive use and the elements.
