I am looking for a set of Goodyear Assurance Comfortreds for the Prius.
    185/65TR15 86T

After putting a set on my Saab 2 weeks ago I am totally convinced it is the way to go. Excellent traction in the snow and wet areas. Where I live, that is important.

My Goodyear dealer says they are not available anywhere. Anyone have any suggestions? I was hoping to purchase a set before my Prius came in and have them put on before delivery in the first week of January.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

That's certainly odd because I just bought a full set today. Total was 387.00. He didn't mention anything about them being hard to get - I called him this morning and he had them delivered by 1:30 this afternoon.

    I'd check with another dealer.

Did you look at Tirerack.com? It looks as if they may have them in stock

Indeed, yes. I did look at Tirerack.com. On the page you shared it does say "low stock" but if you try to buy them it says no stock in all of their warehouses.

I will do some more digging to see if another dealer can do better.

    B) Three60guy,

Have you tried Sears or Tires Plus in your area?

tires plus and sears are places DH worked before landing the dealer job. he was fired for being 'too ethical' from tp, and quit sears after being repeatedly disciplined for 'insubordination' when he refused to perform and bill illegitimate repairs, despite the company enforcing an ethics contract policy from all mechanics. they should have enforced the ethics policy with their management too, i guess.

lots of variation in coprorate entities though... just watch your back if you go to either of those places.

we personally use none of those places, we plan to buy our next set of tires from tire rack and DH will install them at the shop. otherwise i'd offer a suggestion. :(

    Hey gang:

Thanks for the insights. Also, FBush....thank you for your kind offer of obtaining the tires for $26,000. Infortunately, I too have a Red beauty being delivered tomorrow.

Now.....the big news is I discovered there are Goodyear dealers and then there are Goodyear dealers. The one in town couldn't find any Assurance Comfortreds. Another one did. Go figure. I learned something. Just because a dealer says none is available shouldn't make you think another one can't find one.

But then after ordering them, the guy went on vacation. You guessed it, he didn't tell anyone else about it. I called a week after I ordered them and "ummm, well, gee......yada yada yada". But gee, they were suddenly able to find yet another set of 4. Go figure. I picked them up and because of the trouble they even gave me $50 per tire for the OEM tires on the Prius. So, they did do good by me after all.

    Thanks for the help gang.

    Cheers

Don't forget about the $50 rebate card from Goodyear, I think it's still offered. ;)
