I now know that to keep Entune working, you MUST AVOID the USB cable connection. Entune does work on iPhone iOS 5.1.1 with the Premium HDD only if you do not plug in USB. If you do that, you get better iPod functionality. But on the next use (e.g., park, shop, then return and try to re-connect), chances are it will fail completely. When this does happen, you will probably get a message on the head unit saying that there must be an application running… Don't give up, you can clear up the problem by performing a soft reset of your iPhone (hold down the “home menu” button and the “power” button for about 10-15 seconds. Agreed this is not nice, but it's better than what I went through for a week before I knew the trick to success. Additionally, I'm finding that Entune does not have to be in the foreground on the phone for successful operation. I first start Entune on the phone, then start the car. Info->Apps then works fine. I can park, use other apps on the phone, return and restart the car without bringing Entune back to the foreground, and everything still works. Just stay clear of USB connections.
I just tried the voice commands in the Pandora app again and it worked! I did not change any configuration so I still have no idea what the error meant or why it stated working. Hopefully it will continue. --Dave
Ok, I've got to chime in on this... I literally bought my vee on Tuesday and they did NOT update the Entune (I have a vee 5 base). I hope I don't get missed in the update/do you think it possible to pull the update off the USB stick and send it to someone else so they can update? Or does the stick come in some weird format that is not readable by computers?? Just wondering if I should be calling the dealer and raising a stink or not
Ok Guys/ Gals. The updates here and here is a full 'unboxing'. I have to say, i am damn pleased. Toyota.. Thank You! That was an excellent job. And jessica on the 800 number was a big help. Thank you for making me forget my bimmer. Happy Happy Joy Joy
Smooth install here. My parents haven't gotten notification, but I'll go update them tomorrow. Very Nice
Any successful installers care to comment on the changes wrought by USB? How are the in-app voice commands and new apps?
OK...One USB stick ..Great.. I love it. But two? Whats going on? Why did I get a second USB stick in the mail? Toyota, youre getting over enthusiastic. Hope it was a mistake and not every owner is getting two. Besides the confusion its very anti Prius ( waste of resources!)
Some V owners had a problem with the install hanging when they ran the USB update. Toyota made a fix and sent out replacements. You could check the contents of each stick on your PC; you'll probably find a different file size or creation date.
Since I just got my v last week I was wondering if I had missed the update so I asked my dealer when i might get the update. He checked with someone and told me I should get it in November!! Wth! How hard is it to send out a USB or easier yet, make it available to owners online?
Did the over the air update on my v Five with ATP....after one failed install...went very smoothly on second.... Thrilled would be putting it mildly....able to use my iPhone 4s without a USB cable and everything works flawlessly.
I got the email over a month ago and i never received the thing in the mail. Is there something i should do?
Update: I got my USB update today so it was just 11 days from the time I got the email stating I would be getting it in a few weeks until I got it.
Do you think it matters that the PiP gets Entune 2.1.0 and the Prius v (w/ ATP) gets version 1.2.156183? Or does the update on the USB drive have all the versions and picks the right one for the vehicle it is connected to?
Reallllly? My iPhone 4 has been finicky, at best, with the entune. Do you happen to have a tethering plan?
