Just found a site Torklift Central that makes a hitch that fits the Prius c. All I want to pull is a aluminum motorcycle trailer loaded it only weighs about 350 pounds. Has any one installed this or heard about them?
I have one installed, so far it works well as a luggage/bike rack. Torklift rates this hitch as 200lbs tongue weight and 2000 towing weight. Also I have a copy of the installation manual if you're interested I'll scan and post as a PDF.
Goldwinger - I have been looking at the same setup - if you do this and it works well let me know. Would be nice to just hook the bike to the back, drop of the C for my Toyota care maintenance, then go about my business all day on the bike. Come in at the end of the day - hook the bike back up - and drive the C home. Also useful to attach rear mount snowboard racks since the roof rack is not really an option on the C without a permanent installation.
Did you buy the EcoHitch? Torklift Central - Toyota Prius Trailer Hitch|EcoHitch|Seattle|Kent|Auburn|Puyallup|Tacoma|Renton|Covington|Sumner|Bellevue|Burien|Enumclaw|WA
The CURT trailer hitches look a lot like the EcoHitch and they weigh the same too. You can order them online form Amazon and other locations for around $120-$140. CURT Manufacturing | CURT Manufacturing - Hitch Lookup
I also installed a Curt a few days ago, works well and easy to install. Not as easy and fast as the manual said it would be, but i got the job done.
