Hi and a very happy and prosperous 2006 to everyone! I haven't posted on the site for a while as everything was going great with the Prius. I've now had the car some nine months and have clocked-up over 22K miles of typically Toyota trouble-free driving. Shortly after a 20K miles service however I started the car and noticed the clock time was incorrect and the MPG readout had reset to zero miles. With greater frequency when powering up the car the clock has set itself to a different time and the the MPG readout has reset itself to zero miles - this happened twice yesterday. Has anyone else encountered this phenomenon and is it a prelude to more electronic issues?! Cheers Mark
sounds like it may be a bad battery connection... have you tried tightening those up? weird things happen when that connection gets loose. are you losing radio presets too? if that's not the problem i'll have DH take a peek at this thread later on today.
Thanks galaxee Your advice was 100% correct. Clearly the dealer didn't tighten the negative lead after having disconnecting it during the service. Another example of a great car being let down by a crap dealer. It was the same with my previous Honda S2000. This is the motor business in the UK. Thanks again!
glad to hear it. if you find a tech or a dealer that's thorough, make sure you keep using their services and spread word to others. it's the best way to send a message to those who do not care about doing the job right the first time.
