'10 Prius 3 without navigation. I would like to access switched 12v in the console. I've taken the console down and removed the connector. Does anyone know which of the wires I need to tap into for this. Also, which wire is ground?
I pulled the console down on my 2011 II and did not find the 12v switched in the light wiring. If you have a mirror dimmer than it should be there.
There is no ACC/IGN-ON +12V in the overhead console. The power for active mirror is wired through the A pillar from connectors located under the dash, driver side. The shift knob light is on when headlights are ON. Map/dome lights are powered from +BAT.
Just realized that I don't need switched 12v. I need the wire in the console connector that goes on with the headlights. Anone know which wire in that harness to use?
Just open the overhead console, locate the connectors, use the sharp needle as a test point through the cable isolation and measure with a DC voltmeter against some clean metal surface. When voltmeter reading is around 12-14V, you found the power. Test it at different car's mode - OFF, ACC, READY.
I just checked the wiring diagram for map light assembly. There should be 20pin white connector U3. The green wire on pin 8 will receive +12V when headlights are on. The ground wire is white-black colored on pin 1.
additionally, you can use one of the wires heading for the vanity lights for constant power, for things like Homelink rear-view mirrors. I did this instead of pulling the a-piller cover. these wires were easier to tap than the short cable I had for the overhead console lighting.
Many thanks. I am also led to believe pin 20 is also 12v. Are you lookin from the connector side or the wire side?
I very much appreciate your help, but again, I'm not clear on which side of the connector I see in the diagram. I'm guessing that I'm looking at the wire side. Of course, I suppose I could tell from the wire colors.
When messing with electrical parts, you also need a multimeter. That will confirm the output of the power you need.
