As far as my Avatar.... I"m amazed I was able to find my picture already on the net!... I told you I was famous!

But rather than show my best and have you look for the bad, I would rather show my worst and have you look for the good! :)

Although I really like color pictures, they really did get my best side!?

I like dogs but I don't want to own one again. I have the same feelings about a black car having once owned one of those too. A highly polished black car is a thing of beauty. When I get a new car (once every 10 or 12 years) I am enthused about keeping it just like it came out of the showroom but, like New Year Resolutions, the enthusiasm wanes. I don't make New Year Resolutions any more!

Our current POS Dodge Caravan is a light metallic blue and it can go along time before my wife threatens to take it to the expensive car wash if I don't do something soon to clean it up. The black car lasted only until the first rain shower before that happened. I don't get to choose the color, she does, and she has chosen red or silver. I get to make the big decisions like whom I vote for, what advice to give the politicians about taxes, deficit reduction, health care and conduct of wars.

Reality is that we never keep it looking like a shiny new penny, esp in Washingtoin where it rains so much..... but that my opinion about red....
when it looks good... it looks real good!

We just picked up our Red 06 yesterday. It looks great. We even had people ask to get in the car and check it out before we left the dealership! Its a real head turner. We would recommend the red.

We also had aftermarket leather installed (by dealer since leather option not available in Canada) along with heated seats. Interior looks great and the heated seats work really well.

    Good luck with your choice!

I love black cars! I've owned one for just over 9 years now, and wash it (or rather, have it washed) every week at most, every other week at the very least. Sure, sometimes it starts to look a bit dirty near day 6 after the last wash, but it looks shiny and gleaming the rest of the week. And having it be dirty for a day or 2 each week really doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's not like I'm entering it in a car show or anything at any point in time, so who really cares about how dirty it may or may not look??

After seeing a black Prius on the road one day and honestly wondering to myself what kind of car that was before realizing it was in fact a Prius, I decided that I too must have a black one. Even my husband called me when he was on the road one day to tell me I *had* to get a black one. I laughed and asked why, and turns out he had just seen one too and he too wondered at first what kind of car it was, and also really liked the look of it.

I plan on taking just as good of care, if not better, of this car as I do my current car. We don't have to deal with snow/salt or a lot of dust and dirt roads here regularly in SoCal (at least, not the coastal area). The couple times a month I go to the mountains for some snowboarding action, I honestly don't mind if my car gets a bit filthy in the process as a result. It will be clean again very soon after, that I promise! :D

Sweet!..... Glad you finally got your baby..... Thanks for the input... I can't wait to get mine... usually these things don't bother me.. I just live life and let it come... but I've really screwed myself up this time!

Well is it a letdown?.. or is it everything you expected and more as far as the fun of driving it for your very own?..... Tell me ... tell me!

We ordered it on May 28, and its no letdown! Its a lot of fun to drive, and learn about (navi, stereo, voice controls, etc). Its also a great car to show off to friends. They are always surprised that you don't have to make sacrifices in terms of comfort and convenience to drive a hybrid! Even though we have only had it a few days, I think we already have a few more converts to the hybrid way of thinking!

This actually varies depending on the insurance company. When I first insured my *bright red* Integra, I asked the insurance if it made a difference and my broker told me it did not (Toronto, Canada).

I *can* say that I amazed how much attention red cars get - and I am not referring to the police kind (not in my experience anyway, but I am a "good boy")

Over a period of 2 years when the cars was still "new" it was hit FOUR TIMES - while it was parked. (!) Only one was significant enough for a claim, the others were either hit & run or paid the damage myself or I would have been screwed by the insurance. Insurance sucks. My car has also been vandalized twice (stolen fog lights, then radio) and at least one other attempted theft (my alarm paid for itself since I was within earshot!). Finally, add to that more door dings than I can count, mostly on the passenger side - even though I was always finicky about my parking spots.

Then again, I guess this is par for the course when driving the #1 stolen vehicle... :(

This very frustrating, I must say, for someone who has always taken great pride in his car! Though the car is now ten years old, so I am at the point of trying to justify paying maintenance to keep it going vs trading/selling for a new Prius... B) ... but now I am going off on a tangent!

Anyway, I did hear recently that red cars tend to experience more "losses", which would explain the increase some insurance co's apply. Don't know if this is a founded statement or not, though... though my experience does seem to follow that.

OK, that's the end of my rant.
