I'm often arriving to my destination while talking handsfree . The first time I did the dumb thing of pushing the on/off button to power down the car, realizing I just broke the bluetooth connection and had to quickly pickup the phone. I'd like to continue to talk handsfree and was wondering if there was way to power down to 'accessory' mode to maintain the handsfree and also reduce battery usage by moving to 'engine' off state.
The 2010 Prius has a Transfer Call button that allows you to transfer the call to the cell phone prior to turning off the car. Does the PIP have this feature?
Yes, but the OP said he/she would like to continue the conversation on handsfree. I would just put the car in Park and continue to talk with the car "running".
I cannot imagine that Park pulls much more power than "Auxiliary". The power transfer unit is essentially in Neutral.
Thanks! Such a simple solution. I had forgotten about Park, since I just push the power button to turn off which automatically puts it in Park. I'll give it a try!
Sorry, I misunderstood the desire to continue on hands free. The Transfer Call does what it says, it transfers the call from the Bluetooth to the cell phone. You can then turn the car off, continue the call on the cell phone, while you get out and walk away, or sit in your car and continue. If the desire is to continue on handsfree, then putting the car in Park like you said would be the best option.
