Ok, I have a 2012 Plug-in. So what you say? LOL

Thought I would share with you something different.

I am told by my Toyota Dealer (Wilde Toyota of Milwaukee) that I am the first to purchase a Prius Plug-in in Wisconsin. Sure, there may be others around the good ole cheese state but they would have had to been driven here.

Here is how it unfolded. I was curious about the Plug-in and called my dealer to just talk about them. They told me they had one and I could take it on a short test drive. Wow, I had to take them up on that. Well, half way during the test drive I said "boy, if I was smart could I ask if I could put a down payment on this car so when it became available I could maybe be the first one to get a plug-in from their dealership. The sales rep frowned and said he doubted that would happen because Toyota simply is not selling any in the Midwest. They are only selling them on the East and West coasts. I frowned. But he said he would ask his manager.

So after the test drive he did, in fact, ask him. The manger's response was "well, if we said yes, would I buy it?" WOW. Heck yes I would buy it on condition that my wife would say yes. Fast forward now to my conversation with wife. She reminded me that all she was interested in is a better seat and bun warmers. It gets cold in Wisconsin during the winter.

Well, this car does come with power seats on the drivers side AND bun warmers on both sides. She was suddenly interested. She and I took a test drive the next day and the deal was done after many calls to Toyota from my dealer, to bless the transaction.

I fell in love with this car almost immediately. It has the advanced option which blew me away. Just awesome. Got a fair trade in for the Camry and Toyota did bless the transaction. All this took place in the span of time between last Friday and today (Wednesday).

Ok, I know more than the average length for a posting but I just got it home and wanted to share it all with you. I am so blessed to have the opportunity and the folks at Wilde were so professional. They know that by me spreading the word here that there might be increased demand. So, the top dog sales manager (Terry) said to me he has to get his act together. He sure did on this one.

I hope I can figure out how to upload a picture with this new great software version of PriusChat. Good going Danny. And thanks to Rob in new car sales for hand holding me through out all this. Also I could not have done any of this without Max who is Rob's immediate boss. Thanks to all. And no, I'm not an employee of Wilde Toyota but I have, to date, purchased 3 new cars from them in the last 6 years.

A palm tree in Milwaukee, Wisconsin? LOL Nope. Just a plain ole tree. Thought it was a nice place to take a photo.

 

OMG, you are right. Yes, it's a magnetically attached Tinker Bell. You see, my wife and I are both into Disney.

 

As for why the dealer had one in the first place.......

Another dealer (somewhere in Virginia) traded this car to a dealer in Ohio. Then the dealer in Ohio saw that my dealer had a vehicle they wanted really bad. Asked what they wanted in return and my dealer said "how about that Plug-in Prius (pip). They said yes and the car again was transported to Wisconsin. Mystery solved.

 

OK so here comes the comment of the day. The ONLY disappointment with my new pip was that it had no Lane Assist. As you will see in the picture below the lower right hand silver button on the steering wheel is empty. I believe that is where you turned on and off the Lane Assist.

Does anyone know why they didn't include this? I had thought it was supposed to have it but dang it, it didn't. Any one know? Also, is there any option to do so?
