OMG!!! Dude, I'm seriously feel for you and your car. That's some SERIOUS hail damage; almost like gunshots!
Sorry to hear/see that. I lived in Dallas years ago, and remember the hail storms. One evening I was at work and one started, so I decided to wait it out (I had just bought my first Porsche, and let's just say I was a bit anal about it... ). After a while it seemed the storm had passed, but a few blocks after pulling out of the office garage, it started again, so I sought cover from a highway overpass, but on the way home I got hit by a few hail, one of which left a slight dent on the rear part of the roof (so small that I'm sure nobody but me noticed it--but it always bugged me).
With the size of the holes in the windshield and the dents in the roof it looks like the hail was the size of a golf ball ! How large was the hail?
Sorry about your car, that was some huge hail , I happened to catch it on the news. I always wondered how the Prius would fare in a huge hailstorm, guess now we all know. I have been known to cancel a trip if there was a large chance of thunderstorms in the area, just because of the hail threat, yeah , I am anal about it, but I am retired , and have the luxury of having a lot of time on my hands. I hope all works out for you, the body shops will really be backed up for a while. While bad news for the receiver of hail damage, a large hailstorm creates a lot of jobs ( i.e. roofers, siding people, body shops) for a while after the storm. I have known roofers that followed the storms and made a good living for themselves.
We had racquetball size hail on lower grenville, but there were reports of softball size. Happened wednesday at dinner. VM670 ? 2
Yikes! As another owner of a 2011 Prius III, I can empathize with your pain. Hoping for a speedy recovery on your ride.
Years ago I got caught in a golf ball-sized hail storm in Wisconsin and was able to drive my vehicle under the awning / porch of a strip mall. Had to jump the curb to get there but only suffered one dent in the roof. The other vehicles in the parking lot looked a lot like what your car shows. Hopefully the insurance repair won't be too much of a hassle for you.
Sorry to see and hear Rick. Hail got mine last year, but windows survived. I used Toyota of Richardson and they did a great job. How is the sub holding up?
Damn that was big hail A few weeks ago we got golfball hail north of Minneapolis. Our summer cars sit in the garage so they are fine but we had 3 vehicals in the driveway and all of them got a couple grand each in damage. Hope you either get it repaired or a new '12 to bring home if it gets totaled. Mike iPhone
Gaaaagh! Oh man, so sorry for you and the car. I felt a little shaky looking at those photos. Hopes that your insurance coverage does you well.
I have a colleague who lived in Colorado. He said that being a big hail area everybody had garages and there were lots of companies that did body repair at reasonable rates. I hope your area has some of that.
Be glad in this case that you DON'T have a solar roof! Both the moonroof AND the solar panel would have been destroyed here!
