California does not allow ANY tinting on front windows or windshield. I found a workaround...but it is expensive....3M Crystalline tint...comes in several shades and is a very light tint. However, it reduces heat more than much darker tints and, of course, reduces UV by almost 100%. I have it installed all the way around and it is the best tint I have ever used.
My plan is to just tint the rear windows: passenger and cargo area, partly for privacy/security to the cargo area.
If you are willing to spend on the best film around, look for Huper Optik. There are several places that use this stuff. Do some Googling on it.
Premier Mobile Group in Orange, CA. For a less expensive alternative, Elite Tint in Orange County seems to be pretty good.
I had my car done by Classic Window Tint in Orange, with Suntek Carbon XP: front side 80% back side 35 cargo area side 5 rear hatch window 18 So far I'm pleased with this choice. I chose the cargo area dark to provide privacy to that space. The Carbon XP has good heat reflecting properties. The front side is technically not legal in California, but the 80 is barely perceptible over the mild factory tint.
California Tint has been there for a very, very, very long time. (I don't tint my windows, but they must be doing something right!)
Sunshield Tint in Sherman Oaks.....they do a huge number of dealer installs....and many exotics... Sunshield Glass Tinting
