In tight corners exits off the freeway, usually speed limit is around 20 - 25, my steering wheel is to hard to turn just like there is NO power steering at all. Feeling the same when turning around my neighborhood. Mine is C4 just bought it last Sunday June 3rd: is it defective?
The steering on all Prii is light, so if you're getting problems turning yours then I'd suggest a trip back to your dealers for them to check. Assume you've checked you haven't got a flat or your tyres are too low etc?
I agree with Grumpy, take it to your dealer. My steering is very light and easy to turn. Maybe your steering lock is acting up?
Any Toyota dealer will be glad to honor the warranty. I would go to the one nearest my house and begin a maintenance history/relationship with them. Good luck.
yea... it's EXTREMELY rare for any dealership to exchange vehicles... they'd fix it and give you back the car.
Thanks all for your replies! It's not a problem or defective. I was able to take a test drive of the similar C4 when taking my car in the dealership I bought: it is the same. I guess because this is my first hybrid moved from a different make C regular gas engine. Pump up tire pressure helps quite a bit.
One of the things I've noticed is that in sharp turning movements there's an absence of Ackerman effect so it takes a positive effort to straighten it out. I like the sharp turning radius, but the lack of Ackerman is disconcerting--but I'll get used to it.
