I know this may sound weird, but lately every time I am standing behind my car, I feel like the back bumper is really close to the ground and the whole back just seems really low to the floor. I am tall but not THAT tall at 5'7" and I can easily see the top of the car when I'm standing back there...opening the trunk etc. Does anyone else feel that the back seems low on their C? I am wondering if my tires need more air, but the light hasn't gone on or anything. I would appreciate it if anyone can measure what the bottom of their back bumper is to the ground. I'm gonna measure mine tomorrow and see. Thanks!
Thank you, I appreciate you measuring. I will check mine later but 12 1/2 inches does seem like a rather small amount so maybe it's just the way the car is made.
Okay I didn't want to wait until tomorrow so I just checked my car. It too was about 12 1/2 inches, so I guess all is normal. It definitely does feel low though when I'm standing back there, but It seems that's the way it's supposed to be
I don't understand, from all the pics I've seen, the back bumper is angled upwards on the C, isn't it?
The back bumper is higher than the front or the middle of the car. Why are you worried about the back? I am average in height, so I had this photo taken by a height-challenged assistant.
The roofline slopes down, as it does on all the Prii, the raindrop areodynamics that help the cars get that great gas mileage! But the bumper is higher.
Just a note. The teardrop design ending in a pointed tail proved too impractical, so the next best thing is the kammback, named after Herr Kamm. Kammback - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Of course I meant the general shape, imagine the complaints about trunk space if it was a literal teardrop shape, lol!
I didn't say the back bumper was angled down- I said the back meaning as I am standing behind it, the back part of the car seems angled down which makes it seem shorter. ( or makes me feel tall!)
As I recall from looking at one at a dealership yesterday, isn't the bottom of the charge area pretty much level with the top of the back bumper? With little raised 'lip' between the cargo area and top of back bumper, it may give the illusion of being lower to the ground. That form is actually one of the touches I like most about the C. Makes loading and unloading much easier
