Amazon lists a Curt 11469 and a Curt 114690 at different prices. What's the difference? How can I ensure that I order the edition of the hitch that includes the fix for the bumper mounting problem?

    Can I expect a no-cutting install?
With practice, can I expect to be able to remove or install in in 30 minutes? (I'm thinking about removing it prior to taking the car to the dealer for service.)

They are the same. Coincedentally, I saw an add on craigslist for a new curt 11469 locally and bought it today. The difference is, the 11469 came with a ball mount, pin and clip included whereas the 114690 does not have the ball mount, pin and clip. Installation instructions are the same.

I have a curt hitch on my Lexus & I might have a hard time installing it in 30 minutes or less as the main issue is that it is heavy & best done with an extra set of hands or maybe better technique on my part;). I think w/ practice, it's doable especially w/ the prius hitch which I believe to be lighter. IMO, taking it off would be no problem.

The prius hitch looks pretty simple from what I can tell, I have one on my camry too and it was hell to install. I did it witht he thing laying on my chest and no help. I didnt lower my exhaust so it was hard tightening the bolts, but it was still managable.

I just talked to Curt hitches and they are replacing the 11469 & 114690 with a newer version. I checked their site and the 114690 was no longer available.. they will call me back with the model# and price for the newer model hitch.

The hidden hitch/draw-tie model is a better choice. The shape of the hitch makes it less of an eye-sore than the Curt model.

30 min is do-able if you have some practice and an extra person to help. The most difficult part is holding the hitch up while trying to thread the bolts in. The two bolts on the left side of the car are inside of the rear underbody panel so you are threading them with an extension...which is difficult to do while holding the hitch up.

This is an email I received for the curt hitch:

at this time the hitch has been discontinued, waiting replacement of the new unit. No ETA at this point.

I ended up ordering the draw tite due to look and ease of installation.

It appears it's replaced by 112760 and price went up to about $140,

From the photos I've seen of both Curt and Hidden Hitch, they appear to be both exposed and visible. Curt actually looks little cleaner. Can anyone share either their photos, Curt or Hiddent Hitch?

I have photos in my photo album of the Curt hitch. A year ago Curt Mfg. put it on my 2012 plug-in to make sure it would fit. They put it on and off and took photos in about 45 minutes. easy to install! :)

Great photos of under carriage. So from the looks of it, due to paneling, the cross member cannot be much higher up than shown. So the main difference between the Curt and Hidden Hitch is the size of the cross member. Curts tubing is large to it probably sits lower over all?

The top of the reciever hitch, was about 1" below the bumper.

Why the level? Do they provide shims to adjust it?

Anyone with photos and measurements of Hidden Hitch? It should have a lower profile or ground clearance.

No shims. I think They just did that for the engineers to see. If I was to guess, it would be so when under load it would be close to level, or maybe to increase the angle as to not scrape the ground when going up into driveways. Just a guess.

I have a Curt hitch and I have had the car back to the dealer twice. Not a word said about it. Once you get that thing on I can't imagine taking it off just to take the car to the dealer for service ! The thing that got noticed was my Tom's electronic shifter. The service writer had not seen such a thing before and was really excited about it. We talked a while about where I got it and how I liked it etc.

    +1

I think that as far as warranty is involved they would have to decided that the trailer hitch and your use of, as the reason for the warranty issue. I don't think its a huge issue as long as your not hauling heavy trailers or some thing. I would not take the hitch off, I think jaymac is right.
