I'm currently the proud owner of a 2011 Prius III. I love the Prius V rims and was curious what the steps would be for installation. I'm aware that A) The OEM rims are expensive, and B) The current wheels on my III are not 17" rims. I plan on having it done at the dealer. I guess I'm concerned about messing up the air pressure monitoring system and if there are any other adjustments necessary to make such a change. Also, if anyone could share their experiences as far as cost is concerned with the 15" versus 17" tires.
congrats & welcome to prius chat btw. Cost is going to be obviously the cost of the prius five wheels plus tires & if you don't want to take off the TPMS from your stock wheels, you'll need to buy a set(4). Best is to buy a good used set hopefully w/the tires & TPMS in it but likely would have to pay a good price for it. Also, if you're considering long term cost, u have to think of future higher tire cost(because of the bigger wheels) & slightly less mileage you will get.
Before I jump the gun, I do recall reading that the five has a high offset(50 mm. I think) so I'm not so sure if it'll fit on other model prius. Others who do know will chime in .
The OP is using Roman numerals to describe the different trims ("Installing OEM Prius V [Five] rims on Prius III [Three]"), which leads me to believe he's talking about the factory 17" on the Five, not the 17" wheels found on the Prius v (wagon). A number of members with the lower trims are running the Five rims with no problems.
I'd love to sell you my stock v3 wheels, only problem is they won't fit, as stated earlier...different bolt pattern, they sit collecting dust in my work shed waiting for a buyer.
You can run without the TPMS sensors if you don't want to spends the money. You get used to the little warning light.
Wrong car The proper nomenclatures are as follows: V = Roman numeral 5 (as in Five). This is still pronounced "five." v (lower case v, italized) = the Prius wagon. Pronounced "vee."
