Did you know your Prius' glove box can double as an oven? I didn't either until a friend of mine and I were riding to lunch today when he opened the glove box and noticed a bottle of window cleaner I had in there had melted. Almost the entire contents had run down into the lower glove box and soaked the quick start manual I kept in there. Yikes. At least now I know I can bake cookies in there while I'm at work.
I'm amazed at how effective a sun shield is at keeping the dash cool - even with our Florida sunshine.
What's wrong with a black car? I have a black car now, and never had a problem with heat before, but then again, if it gets over 30 degrees C (86 F) we think it's hot over here in the Netherlands. But I'll still be happy with the aircon in my new prius (if it ever arrives). I can imagine a black car in Texas of Florida isn't such a good idea. Still it's a good tip for if I travel to the South of Europe.
