Haha will this work for the gen 2? Can they paint the tip blue? Actually considering this. LOL.

I think the blue tip is from heat treated titanium one.

Nice. I was hoping someone would try this. When you mod your car like some of us only to see the weak tail pipe in the rear, it is rather annoying. I know most think its a waste to add an aftermarket exhaust on the Pri but to each his own. I know Tanabe is suppose to be testing exhaust systems for the v. They should go for around $560. Probably still too expensive for what really amounts to a slightly better sound and look. I may just have to order the tip as well and be done with it.

I was thinking it might be more attractive without those 3 square clamps and bolts sticking out around the pipe. Perhaps the clamps could be removed and the bolts just tightened down on to the pipe? Also, it looks like it drops down a couple inches more, could hit on some streets and speed bumps? Maybe it could rotate to improve that.

those 3 clamps and poor 2 piece angled design does not do it for me. It looks too aftermarket. Someone needs to design and build one that will give it a nice rolled polished stainless steel 1 piece finished tapered tip and one mounting bolt at the very bottom like a factory tip would use. Using 3 brackets to mount around the factory exhaust tip is just plain ugly .

May I ask what kind of car you have and what tail pipe tip you're looking for and finally how much you are willing to spend???

I think for $20, it is good enough for me and I don't think it is ugly especially you have to lay down flat on your stomach on the ground to SEE the 3 clamps.

Buyers beware. A post on the GenIII board discusses how what looks to be the same tip melting some of the plastic under the bumper after a long trip. Interesting thing is it was more due to the hot exhaust gasses vice the tip touching the plastic since poster indicated there was about 1/2 inch clearance. Tip was too short thus allowing the hot exhaust output to flow up too close to the bumper.

Thanks for the link which I read with interest. I will definitely check mine and see if I need any adjustment. I also notice that my V has no grey plastic trim under the rear bumper.

Hey tanasit, I'm the one w/ the melted plastic on my generation 3 prius using the same or similar exhaust tip. I wouldn't worry too much about the problem I had as I see you have much more clearance under the rear bumper plus the angle of the tip comes straight out which was not the case for me. This leads me to believe that either u have a different exhaust tip or the muffler shaft angle & clearance on your v is totally different from the g3 prius which in turn makes the tip fit differently in the 2 models. I'm guessing, it's the latter. Which would then lead me to believe that this (exhaust tip) was made for a prius v & not the prius. Can u tell me if this is the ebay seller u bought yours from & is this the listing? Brand New 304 Stainless steel Chrome Exhaust Muffler Tip For Toyota Prius | eBay

Sorry, duh, I see u have it on your thread & it is in fact the same seller & listing. I'm glad it worked out for u but I don't think this seller knows the difference between a prius & a vo_O . Anyways, glad if fits(properly) & looks good on the v:).

    Yes, the same seller.
Just to be safe and since I haven't yet get stuck in the traffic, I have a plan to help prevent this melt down. I have to look for the parts that I need and will report back.

Still looks like the hot exhaust gases will still be exiting closer up near the bottom of the rear bumper than the stock exhaust pipe.

If it were my car, I'd be worried about the heat rising up that close to the plastic bumper.

I am surprised by schinia comment because when I received mine, I was surprisingly happy with the quality and finish. I even tried to press the pipe and realized that it was thick enough and as for the finish it was very smooth and shinny with deep chrome color. The rolled edge is smooth and even and the weld spot is decent plus the hardware looks good too. In fact, I think it is the best $20 I spend for a long long time.

Looks nice! However, I don't like the big mounting bolts..they are visible from the rear!?
