In terms of screws, I just used some 1.25in I have around. Make sure you hand screw them in and not use a power tool for the chance of overtightening and damaging the treads. I feel the 4 screws hold the speaker good enough. On the Infinity, I also had to trim some interior rim of the OEM brackets (at the 4 corners of the oval) to fix 4 braces of the speakers.

I've always had good experience with Infinity (especially Kappa series) and I happen to be able to pick up that pair of 9633cf. Otherwise if you like the quality/sound of a different brand having a thinner top-to-bottom profile, I suppose it's better.

I'm not sure what you mean by the parts that you had to trim. Did you have to trim parts from the door?
To me it looks like it's going to be a really tight fit because there's that little oval piece on the door panels.

How do you hold the speaker in the spacer?

So you just used long screws and screwed the speaker into the metal of the door, correct?

Correct. You just use long screws. I pre-drilled first, but I'm pretty sure almost all of the screws will only go through the plastic on the bracket.

Another thing... In order to get my Alpine Type-R 6x9's mounted deep enough (where they weren't hitting the inside of the door panels), I had to trim down the top edge of the mounts as well. I trimmed them down to the edge that was already inside the mount. Approximately 1/4" or so. It was easy to do since there was already an edge defined inside from the old speaker.

    Sprtent,
Just finished the front infinity reference 9633cf. Thanks for your experience.

I used the original speaker as the mount and the magnets cleared the window perfectly like you mentioned.

Some cutting in spots were needed on the OEM speaker/mount inside edge for the driver door speaker to go in flush.

I also removed the little ribs on the inside door grill to allow the tweeter to fit and not bulge the door out.

They sound great for a non-amp install with the flyaudio nav system.
I did sound deading, B-quiet in the doors. Made the doors friging heavy.

I have to loose 10lbs to make up for some of the added weight.

    Suggestion:
If performance equal I would go with the smaller neodymium magnets next time.
    My doors are very heavy.

You can get carried away adding that damping material.
