I successfully now have Sirius Sat Radio in my stock Display Audio Headunit.

To do it you need to purchase:

    SoundLinq 2 (Model SL2s)
    and
Sirius Connect Vehicle Tuner (Model SCC1)

You can't use the factory Sat Antenna (if the Prius II even has one).

Looks like you've been busy! I use my sat radio half the time I use my itouch, never terrestrial radio!
    Good Times!

You would have to have the Nav unit for that, not sure how you could use it without Nav, so I dont think so.

Very interesting! So it looks like this is not the "factory" sat radio solution, as it is a Sirius radio instead of XM? I wonder if ther is a XM option as well... In anycase, strangely enough I happen to have that SCC1 unit sitting in by garage from an old head unit I had in an old car some time ago...

Did you watch the install? Where did they route the antenna?

You mentioned that you did not know if the 2 even had a preinstalled sat radio antenna... I know in older models there was one - only with a propriatary connector... I understand that you could get an adapter for it...

Anyway - I am excited to see a working solution - I'll post if and when I find out more, or do a self install!

Did a little research, and it looks like the company that makes the SoundLinq 2 (Model SL2s)
is Vais Technology - and they make a XM version as well... the SoundLinQ2 (Model SL2xD2) Which is a bit more expensive, but worth it for me to get baseball play by play... I will most likely place my order this weekend! I could not wait... I just placed my order today. I plan on doing the install myself. I'll keep you posted!

Do you have the ability to display channel, artist, song text information?

Do you have the ability to display channel title on the button?

The channels in memory show up just like in my pics. As for song info, yes you get all 3 lines of info. I was parked in the garage when I took the pics so I didn't have reception. If you would like I can take a pic showing the song info...

Sounds good, I will persue further.
Do you know if the kit is pure "plug and play" or did the installer need special plug adapters?
Do you know where the kit actually plugs into the HU?
Where did the installer place the sat antennae?

    Thanks again.

With both parts, yes it's plug and play. (The Sirius Kit, and the Soundlinq kit)

Not sure about the connection location, the dealer had a local Stereo installation shop do the install.

The sat antenna is in the middle of the roof agsinst the top line of the windshield. They ran the wire in the windshield rubber molding.

I like it because I can take long road trips and not have to find a decent radio station. And now living in Omaha, its for the same reason as well, as there is no good radio stations at all, lol.

Do your steering wheel controls work with the Sat?
Did you need an interface controller for this?

I have successfully installed XM Raido in my Base 2012 Prius. I ordered the Vais Technology SoundLinQ2 (Model SL2xD2) and self installed. It is "plug and play" and very easy to install yourself, with very clear directions.

I removed the dash moldings following the instructions I found in this forum, and removed the stock head unit. I was hoping to find an xm antenna plug back there, but as far as I could tell, there is no sat. antenna installed... I plugged the Vais unit in the toyota head unit, and ran the included antenna to the roof - followed the instructions to get the head unit to recognize the new hardware (very easy - flip a couple of switches and power button presses...) and I was up and running! There is tons of room behind the head unit, and I just neatly zipp tied everything together, and then zipp tied it to the existing cables. I put the dash back together and went out for ice cream.

All in all, it took about an hout to install. about 20 min. to take apart the dash, and put it back together again - the rest of the time was taken up by installing the antenna.. I took my time to do it right - running the wire under molding, etc...

everything works as if it were built in from the start. The hardest part was transfering my XM account from an old portable radio to the car unit - and that's only because XM customer service is horrid!

I will be next to do this install.
Any reason to choose Sirius over XM?

I believe the II does have an Sat antenna which you can find under the center console. There is an adapter which sells for $50-$60 (search Shark Antenna Adapter). I found one on Fleabay for $60 with free shipping.

I'm have a portable XM unit with lifetime service. I'm going to install this in my PIP so I don't have to pay for another subscription. I used the antenna that came with the car kit in the front window and never got great reception. So hopefully using the one on the roof will be better.
