I'm psyched. I'm bringing the wife and kids. And the dog. And a camera. Will take picks and share them with you. Any advice on what I should ask the dealer about before we drive off into the sunset? See ya later-
Yes before it is 'yours' get the salesman to promise (in writing) free customization of lights off, reverse beep, and the like. Once it is yours, the Service Department will want paid.
Can you kindly be more specific? What do mean "lights off". And is this customization readily known to dealers?
Congratulations! If you're new to hybrids, make sure you fully understand how to start the car and turn it off completely. I know this sounds like a simple process, but I actually left ours on in the garage after I thought it was off! Also, it's more important to set the parking brake with this car over others. Again congrats, I for one am looking forward to your pictures,
Congrats! It should be known. You car will beep in reverse inside the car and it's very irritating. Let me find the link of customizations and will edit this if someone doesn't add it before I do. W Edited to add but I can't access it for some reason: http://www.toyota.com/owners/web/pages/resources/owners-manuals and look for customizations. It's in the owners manual too section 6-2. I have a PDF but can't upload that.
Toyota is refusing to let me get to their online manuals today, but there is a section on customization. You can change how long the light remain on after you open a front door, if the reverse beep is one beep or continuous, how the power windows and door locks work, etc. Depending on the model and year, some have to be done by the dealer, some can be done by any owner, and some can be done only with certain option groups. Your salesman wishes to sell a new car and will cheerfully 'rob' the Service to do these mods to make that sale. Once the car is yours, however, the Service Department will try to make a profit, making those same changes. So go over that chapter with the salesman, and have the changes done while the accountants are studying the entrails of a goat, or whatever it is they do back there.
OK Guys - I'm like so psyched to own one of these Prius V' III's. I've made some small modifications as you can see from the pics. 1. I had custom leather seats installed. MUCH nicer than factory softex-whatever that is. Leather door handles, leather cargo top. See pix below. 2. I put a rear bumper protector on. 3. I removed the hubcaps - and yes, am still getting 47 MPG on this tankful. 4. Added a solar powered dancing hula girl for the dash board. View attachment 38177 View attachment 38177
That leather looks really nice! I usually hate aftermarket leather, but that looks well done. Congrats on the new ride. You need to get someone in your family to do the Toyota jump. Here is my wife after we got our 4Runner a few years ago. I was on crutches from ACL reconstruction, so she had stand in.
Congrats bro! Have fun in your new ride! Question is how many kids do you have? My wife and I are looking at getting a Prius V to replace our 07 Matrix really to get more cargo space once we have our second child. We are going on a long road trip this summer with our Matrix, and we are nervous how we will get everything in the cargo area with 2 duffle bags, a stroller, a playpen, and a full sized cooler. Are you planning to take your Prius V on a long road trip with your family? If so, tell me how it goes.
I think you reposted the pictures a lot there... And to answer your sticker's question... Raise an eyebrow and go "Facinating."
As for the bumper protector, that will protect your bumper for sure. I have it on my bumper, and it makes a world of difference especially when lifting heavy items into the cargo area not only protecting your bumper from dings and scratches but also it allows you to slide items that are too heavy to lift. I think the factory softex is just fabric which makes it easier for you to rub any filth or liquids off so that it doesn't stain your seats? I am not sure?
Congrats! The seats look beautiful, as do the the door panels and console. May I ask what you paid, install included? Is this Katzkin? I think I am definitely going to do the bumper protector.
Not Katzkin - I do not know which manufacturer - the installe had their own kit - said it was better than Katzkin. I paid $1,295 for it installed - plus tax.
