i noticed that the stock upgrade for 16 inch wheels for the tire is 195/50/16 im looking at some rims that are 9.5 pounds but are 16x7 anyone know if this is too wide also which tires would be best to run with aftermarket wheels? michelin ecotopia is for hybrids im told. i just want to keep the tire weight down
I run a seven inch wheel with no issues. ( konig feather 4x100 17" weighing 15.75 lbs.) continental makes a nice tire as well, just over 1 lb over a stock 15".
With that size you are going to have trouble finding a good LRR tire. You could go one size larger (195/55/16) with 853 revs/mile vs. the stock 866? Revs/mile and you have some good tire choices like the Ecopia EP422. The c uses a kooky size tire so finding good LRR tires is difficult. The alternative is stick with your desired tire size and find a long wearing tire that is inexpensive. This will make up for the mpg loss by not going with a LRR choice. A great option would be the Continental ExtremeContact DWS? It is cheaper than most LRR tires, has good ratings and has one of the highest treadwear ratings in that size so cost per mile will be as low as you could possibly get and still have a great tire. I would put tire weight as the last of my concerns. It doesn't seem to have as large of an effect as tire size and construction, treadwear rating and purchase price.
