Suggestions for Cleveland area Prius service?

most of your general maintenance (tire rotation, LOF, various air filters, state inspections if applicable, and checks for general parts staying in good shape) can be done by any shop really.

when you run into a problem (check engine light, any other warning light) you're going to have to take it to the dealer. most places won't touch a prius then, and probably would have no idea what to do anyway.

finding a non-dealer prius tech will be hard for a few years i'd think. unless there's a prius tech who recently left toyota for an independent shop. afaik one of the many requirements to get into prius school is toyota master certification, which requires working for the company.

 

what brakes? you won't need brake pads for ~100k because of the regen system

While I too, being a car enthusiast and collector have used my own "Wrenches" and Independent Shops and have supported such, a Prius is not a car you want to mess around with at a shop that is not factory trained and knows the Toyota Hybrid Sytem like a Master Tech. Plus, why risk voiding your warranty or having Toyota show you good will, even when out of warranty on a car so technically different. We have 3 master techs who have the specialized tools and diagnostics for the system. There is even an electrocution issue so, so bring it here and don't try anything yourself. Our service hours are off the hook as we are right above the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. Open until 3:00 am four nights a week, Mon -Thursday and all day Friday and Saturday. Check it out. If we were overpriced and not good, we wouldn't sometimes have 80 to 100 appts a day. New lounge, Wi-fi, fresh cookies and more. If you are looking for a new Prius, we like most dealers are in short supply. Hang in there. We do have (2) v's at the moment a II and a III but they won't last long.
