I looked into the folding mirror but the cheapest price I could find was $500, which is a complete waste of money. Is this the price you paid for yours?

I paid $563.90 + $82(shipping) for the folding mirror parts, then $129.90 for the signal covers, then another $153 for the blue running LED mirror glass. So, the mirror endeavor has been quite a chunk of cash to just have some "nifty mirrors".....

for the folding mirrors, is it the same one you can buy from Nigel jdm parts ?

Also, do they unfold when you walk close to the car ?

Do the mirrors tilt when you put the car on reverse ?

    thanks

I'm not keen on when it does what.... Since it's factory Toyota mirrors that are used for the whole folding part of this modification, I guess they'd (by default) do whatever it is that Toyota oem folding mirrors do. I would think that they fold/unfold whenever you walk up to the car with the smartkey......but I'm just venturing a wild guess when I say that. I think someone said that the tilting down feature is another whole motor (in addition to the folding mirror motor and the other motor we use to adjust our mirrors). I never asked/inquired about the tilting thing, cause it's of no interest to me. I just never back my car up for any reason that it would be remotely useful. I just like the folding mirror thing cause I think it looks cool when a car's mirrors fold in or out.

It says "When Shift Into "R", Side Mirror Of Driving Side Will Be Automatically Turn Down For Easy Packing (sic)." However, it's more useful for the side mirror of the passenger's side (not driving side) to tilt down for curb (parallel) parking. I have the tilting function on my Lexus.

If it's the right-side mirror that does the tilting, it's more useful that way anyway, at least in this country.

so, I decided to bring my car in to my buddy that works at toyota to see if he can help me install the jdm turn signal mirros and he got one of the hybrid specialists to look at the DIY write up.

He told me this "I had one of my Prius guys look at the DIY diagrams and he said such an installation could cause feedback voltage to the Engine Control Module and its not something he would recommend installing here as it could cause issues down the road. "

What do you guys think, is it true ?

It seems their response to you was a stock answer that 90% of Toyota dealership people will tell you regarding any mods like this. I first had asked mine about several of my electrical mods, but their answer to everything was pretty much that you can't do that or shouldn't do that. It's just foreign to their ingrained Toyota training, I think. That's why I think the other stuff they told you about the other mod not being able to work on a US or LHD Prius because it was "strictly for a RHD Prius" was balogna, also. They don't typically think outside the box like an aftermarket installer does on a daily basis.
