Just got the call... my 2006 is waiting for me in the parking lot! He said I can come over and do the longer test drive I wanted in it if I want before I pick it up... Does anybody think that might be a problem? Anyone have a delivery checklist around?
Here's the official 2006 Pre-delivery stuff of use to you. Be sure, however, to read the general info at the link Danny provided. My attachments are just the updated TSBs for the 2006 MY.
They beat me to it. CONGRATULATIONS!!! My personal experience advice: TAKE YOUR TIME. You will be anxious to take delivery. You might be flustered by the whole process. But breathe deeply and take your time. If there's anything you don't like, call it out and MAKE THEM FIX IT. If your state requires a front license plate, either install it yourself using the plate holder supplied with the car or insist that they install it using the plate holder. Trust me on this one, it's a long and agonizing personal story.
Thanks, guys... I just visited her at the dealer... b-e-a-utiful. Scheduled my pick up, played with some things, unfortunately I didn't see these posts until I got home... :-/ But, I'll be sure to take the PDF with me and go through it. Should I try to stop by again on the next day my sales guy is there to take a look, or should I wait until delivery day?
Does anyone know how much an extra SKS keyfob is, and how difficult it is to program it? I want to have an extra around, JIC something happens to one.
You should get 2 by default. They should both be programmed to the car. If by 'extra' you mean a third one, then I wouldn't bother.
They cost a lot...you're looking at ~$200 to get the SKS fob and have it programmed. Just wait until you lose one, then get a new one immediately.
$200 Bucks? Holy crap. You can get one reprogrammed if you lose one ? You don't need 2 to reprogram?
You got a 2006 also, I just got lucky and the one I wanted was on the Dealer lot. Trading my old Prius in today for the one on the lot, I'm one very happy person and will be a nervous wreck all today waiting to pick it up.
Congratulations! You will be very happy with it. I had mine for 8 days now. It's a Super White package 8 (NW). I did not have any preference on exterior color. I just had to have a grey leather interior. I used all the advice from the forum (Thanks to all) and the entire dealership experience was uneventful--err--except for a minor accident to the car I traded in. The dealer's lot was so full and I could not find a parking space. Long story short- I backed up into their gate and dented my rear bumper. My entire trip to the dealer was probably about an hour and a half. It would have been sooner if I were not being polite as the finance guy goes through all the offers I declined --except for two: (1) glass breakage sensor and (2) pre-paid auto care (this one I regretted getting). Enjoy your new car-- I probably spent more money on this thing in its first 3 days than I did with my other previous cars. Already I've done and bought the following: * tinted rear windows * had glass breakage sensor installed * installed Harman Kardon Drive + Play * bought car mask, cargo net and tote, all weather front floor mats, rubber rear bumper protector, DVD screen protector, 2 license plate frames (Prius signature) * bought Obus Forme seat cushion and back support (the driver's seat is not as comfortable as I'd like it to be) * personalized license plate on order ...and I'm not even done yet-- I have a few more things I want to add/buy for this car--and some may turn out to be projects. I must have spent my next three months "lunch money" on this thing. Is this crazy? What drives people into this type of behavior!? I'm happy with my purchase, which I've not felt about my 4 other previous new car purchases. Also, this is the first time I am reading the owners manual (which I would normally ignore). Let us know how your purchase experience went. Regards, Tommy
Tommy, gnrznx9, take lots of pictures and post them. I think we all like to see how we've tricked out our Priuses. Congratulations to you, scorpionjwp, and of course, SteveS!
Reading the doc Danny cited, I found the following: "If the key is inserted into the key slot upside down, it may cause a breakdown." Is the key still engineered so it can go in either way, and if so, what kind of breakdown? C
Here's a link to my first shots of my new baby. I'm naming it "Hunter." Kidding. I have not put in the mask and rear rubber protector yet because of recent rains. I'm thinking of changing tires but right now I'm too obsessed with increasing mpg. I'm still on my 40.4 mpg after 220 miles. Below is a link to my '06. The overcast day today did not do justice- but I'll take more as soon as I get to clean my car. http://photos.yahoo.com/gnrznx9 Cheers, Tommy
congrats On your way home with your new car stop at the goodyear store and have them check the air preasure.Picked mine up last week and it was 38 all around.went to the dealership this am and had them do the paper work so it was purchased today but i have had it a week now. If you have the tire sensor you can not use a different size wheel and cant use just any tire. traded in my o5 pkg 3 for the 06 pkg 4
You let rain stop you? How odd, we do everything in the rain up here in the PNW from October to June.
