So I just bought a 2012 Prius with Option Package 2. My Sales rep assured me (in writing) my car had the Sirius/XM Tuner Module installed and it just needed to be activated by calling SXM, he even verified with the parts department that I was good to go. BUT, its not. So I'm going to be calling him on Monday to find out what he is planning to do to resolve the issue, which leads me to my question.... My Head Unit is SXM Compatible correct? I just need the highly overpriced Toyota SXM Tuner Module correct?
If you press the SAT/AM button and can't get the SAT function to come up then you most likely don't have the receiver installed. I'm not sure where they locate the receiver on yours....but I've installed one in a 2007 4 Runner (under pass. Seat) and Lexus 470 (behind panel in rear cargo area.) Genuine Toyota kits. The kits can be had at the dealer and also EBay. The installation instructions aren't too difficult, no special tools were required. I think Toyota uses XM......we were shopping for Fords once and they used Sirius.
This Toyota specification list Toyota Prius Hybrid - 2012 Models: Prius Two, Prius Three, Prius Four, Prius Five appears to indicate that the 2012 Prius Two doesn't have satellite radio.
Well luckily my salesman called me today and he let me know since he told me my car came with SiriusXM he would order the necessary equipment and install it Thursday for free, so yey!
That was true of the 2011's, also. I don't mind it myself since I've no intention of getting satellite radio. Just another bill I don't need. My radio has always been free up to now and I've no desire to pay for it. However, I hope pghjerry's matter is swiftly resolved by his dealer. pghjerry, enjoy your satellite radio when you finally get it.
so what was the end result? I have the same as yours and my dealer told me its impossible to have a sat radio on a 2012 P with level 2 plz let me know and some pics would be nice
I brought my car in to have them do it and they ended up having to order the xm tuner because they had none in stock. So not sure what the end result is yet. I will definitely post what happens after they install it. My salesman said it would be prob next week sometime.
Nope...but I dont have a CD button ether, it appears after a CD is inserted, same with iPod. I kinda hope the Prius II headunit isnt compatible with XM and they are putting in the Prius III headunit, but I dont think Ill be that lucky, lol.
