I have purchased and installed a Enginer 4Kw PHEV. Where to start. Okay, First off the CONS The statement (notion) of 2 hour clean install by a professional. Forget it, unless you live next door to someone that actually does EV for employment.My experience was like day and half give or take plus you need to test install for any issues. I did not get any errors or the dreaded DTC. Next, OMG what is with all the stainless steel is this a PHEV kit or commercial kitchen application.This another con(disadvantage) to kit all that stainless steel is too heavy.......plus not easy to maniputate on install.The world has other materials beside ss16 Spaghetti wiring, cables are short . You will struggle to make connection to make Left 24vdc 80ah, Right 24vdc 80ah, BMS, Batt charger, and DC-DC converter to mate. The anderson connectors on wire bundle and equipment are to short.......... The DVD and instruction are a patch work. If you get confused by them would be no surprise The DVD has Jack and I think that clown from Colorado . Why would you try to install, narrate, and direct, and edit video at same time. Really confusing stuff. The provided wiring harness for IGN ready, and ground is poor or afterthought as are the instruction to install DC-DC converter axial fans these are the loudest noise in the car now. No radio or music will drown that noise sounds like I have Bell helicopter whirling in background. Other than that I have a PHEV with 20mile range that works nicely....

Thanks On Gen 2 installs from what I have found/read/witness the following occur The monitor reflects 20 EV range at 100%. Once you get to low DOD on Left 24vdc 80ah/Right 24vdc 80ah more in the range of 17-18 range for my trips. The ICE is going to kick on when you go above 33-35mph unless you have different BMS (non Enginer BMS).The MFD HV green battery will occur with Enginer in on mode. Enginer does not explain BMS monitor screen's.So you have five blue screen's of monitor data which Enginer has no reference,descriptions, and symbol terms. If anyone can help decipher these would be appreciated.....
Basically, you have PHEV SOC, input/output currents/voltages, temps (probably not connected), cell voltage summary, and 4 pages of voltages of the individual cells. I believe the highest and lowest cell voltages are marked with a "H" and "L" on the last four pages. There is a manual online here. If you recently installed your system you have the BMS16D. Note that it was recommended to me NOT to turn on the balancing function of the BMS. All this information is recorded every 10 seconds on the SD card in the side of the display head. It writes files you can open in Excel. It is useful for determining if your pack is behaving and if the cells are well balanced. In general, though, if it is accepting 4+ kwh in a full charge, you are okay. Also, if you are an Enginer kit owner, ask for access to the Enginer "User" forum on their site, if you haven't already -- lots more information there.
Texas - you can also criticize my posts on the Enginer User forum, also, the joy...., although lately the Enginer user forum seems to have become redundant, maybe that's a good thing. Oh yes welcome to the Enginer Club.
So what are the compelling BMS options? What happens if you use BMS2 (newest version of BMS+, ~$500) or Orion BMS (much more $)?
Okay You may want to read Enginer's,Hybrid Interface's, Ewert Energy's, and Orion's respective websites.......for better understanding, Enginer comes with their BMS and the others BMS you may seek out by further reading and research otherwise idk. You can also check other threads and posts about non-enginer bms......

NortTex, In case you haven't noticed, the PHEV SOC displayed on the first BMS screen should be taken with a big grain of salt. I'm pretty sure it is just based on total pack voltage, so it is probably only accurate to +/-20%. I'll drive 5 miles in almost all EV mode, and it will still happily report "100%" SOC to me...
Thanks You know here is the thing(wish you where my next door neighbor) Yea I know and probably so if not worse in my case and like 25-30% My HV OEM pack is old and orig . I think summers/winters temps have taken their toll on my OEM HV pack (I measured it about 2 months ago was 7.2 ah but really does tell the battery age or overal status. Even with SG2 and monitor always some small delay time on data stream. All battery's (HV OEM pack/L-R 24vdc80ah) drain fast on driving.
When I get time I will post my mpg screen .Does any1 use fuel buddy I see a few Gen3 user's. I am all so gonna toss this idea out here . Has anyone attempted to make there own Enginer battery pack . I am only gettin about 57mpg and the two 24vdc 80ah packs deminish quickly in Texas hot temp heat......
