I finally broke down and traded in my 07 Tundra for a more gas (wallet) friendly car. I chose the Prius C and I must say I am impressed. While I loved my truck, with gas prices I couldnt afford to go to work anymore driving it at 13-15mpg. I was having to fill up every 3 days as I commute 100 miles a day for work. I have been driving a week now in the Prius and am still on the tank the dealer put in the car. I was a little worried about the car not having enough power to merge into traffic safely but it is surprisingly nimble and gets into the flow of traffic pretty good. Another concern I had was elbow room in the car since its so small. But once inside it is rather roomy and not at all cramped. While I will miss my truck the money I save in gas, car payment, and insurance will more than make up for the heart break lol.
Got my first fill up since getting the car. WOW!!! As you see above I was used to ALOT of gas. I still had 3/8 of a tank but work tomorrow thru sunday and didnt want to fill up this week if I didnt have to. It was only $22 to fill up oh and on the way home I got 70mpg. Now that is not typical and will not happen very often. Its a 10 mile trip to the gas station and there was no traffic so I was able to baby the car and never got over 55mph, no hard starts or stops, kept it in ev as long as I could and coasted down hills. Was pretty neat to watch the MPG's keep climbing.
10 Miles! Geez. Mine's only one and I still complain about it being out of the way! At least you're now only using a third of a gallon round trip as opposed to a whole gallon. Congrats, good luck and enjoy your new car!
That's a great attitude. And, congratulations and thank you for reducing your fuel consumption by over a thousand gallons per year. :welcome:
I feel your pain! I came out of a Nissan Titan into my C2. I loved my truck but I don't miss the mileage, or lack of... Every time I look at my mileage figures, and the gas guage in my C, I just sit there and smile. I don't have but about a 46 mile round trip commute but I only go to the gas station now about every 10-14 days...SWEET!!
I just want to add that I am amazed at the gas mileage I am getting in this car! I looked at the sticker and seeing like 48/53 or something like that. I drive 50 miles each way every day for work across a small mountain and some hilly and winding roads and some city driving also. I figured I would get 50ish at best. I have been averaging 63mpg every trip! Not sure what I am doing right or if its the car but like today when I went to work I got 68.2mpg and on the way home I got 65mpg. I couldnt be happier
good job. what fast are you driving? I tried 60mph and i got about 63MPG on 31 mile trip. If I drive 70mph and i only got 46MPG. lol quite different.
