Ive. Only owned chevy trucks my whole life. Ive had a 54,(2)81's, 87 Burban, 99 snd my current one is an 83 offroader. Eith the gas prices going up it was costing me 100$+ a week to fill up. So i decided to buy a 2008 white Prius. I love it. Its qiuk handles great snd 51+ mpg. Compared to my 10 mpg in my truck. I glad i bought it. I still havr my truck for play snd the Prius for everyday. From this red and black chevy To this
That makes sense. Truck for fun and a sensible money saving car for the commutes. I think that's called having your cake and eating it.
congrats on the Prius and welcome! You will love it more and more everytime you visit the gas station. Enjoy each of your vehicles at the appropriate times and places. I went from a CJ-5 Jeep built 4-wheeler (4" lift, 33s, winch, diamond paneling, etc.)...so i know. That was 9 years ago. I don't even want to think about using it for a daily driver now.
And this is why US gasoline consumption will keep going down. The irony is that if gas were $2 per gallon, a used Prius would still be paying for itself in gas savings. I bet you're now wondering why it took you so long. Anyway, welcome to the world of Prius and thanks for reducing your gasoline consumption.
I wish I could convert my Chevy truck-drivin' dad. He keeps buying the Chevy Silverado extended cab, which he drives with WAY too much accelerator and brake, since he drives right on the bumper of the vehicle in front of him, changing lanes like a madman. Then he wonders why he gets such poor gas mileage! He's coming out with me to pick up my new Prius. It'll be about a 900-mile drive back. Maybe I'll let him drive it a little to see if he can grow to like it. Though I'll have to tell a white lie and say that it is supposed to be gently broken in! Otherwise, being a passenger with him driving is too stressful! But your story give me hope. Welcome to the Prius family!
What I save on gas each year pays for our family vacation. Vacation or Supporting Terror - You Decide. Welcome to PC
I think you were wise to keep the truck for play. (and perhaps occasional utility). Should make the transition easier. You know...a roostercruiser doesn't want to go Cold Turkey.
I'm going to echo the main messages here. I hope you continue to enjoy your Prius and appreciate how much money you don't need to spend on gas for your daily driver. The truck is great for utility purposes (+ fun/other purposes as needed).
