I'm new to the Prius. I really want to get one. Havent considered it until recently, but I think its a real option fo me. I found a 2008 with 53K miles , has the LCD monitor (GPS), hands free bluetooth for $20,000. It seems to be in good condition. Its at a local Toyota dealer, and is certified. Just curious if thats a decent deal? Opinions? Thoughts? thanks!
Sounds high. I posted a reply about a similar sounding car at http://priuschat.com/forums/newbie-forum/109092-should-i-buy-used-2008-prius.html#post1555362. Why does your user info say you have a '12 Prius c?
Sounds high to me unless it is the top of the line model. I bought a 2011 Prius 2 in jan for 2 or 3K more than that.
I would not buy one for that price. I have both a 2008 Prius and a 2010 Prius. I think the Gen III (2010 - 2012) is a much better car. Right now is not a good time to buy a used Prius. The dealers have jacked up the prices.
You could get a new Prius c for that much. Prius c Two MSRP $19,900 Est. mpg 53 city/46 hwy Cruise control, 60/40 split fold-down rear seats with adjustable headrests, Cargo area tonneau cover It will not be as decked out, but it will be 4 years and 52.9 k newer.
Well my info says I have. 2012 c because it wouldn't let me sign up without choosing something I actually drive a 2002 ford explorer. Well I looked at the C but there's really no room for negotiation on price. With the 08 it's used and my salesman told me we could work on it some. But regardless I'm more likely to get the used at tr payments I can handle before I could the C. And I like the full size Prius for the size. I play music and have to haul music gear. But biggest issue is being able to afford. I won't be ready to buy for a bit. I'm saving now. But not quite ready to buy, financially. I appreciate the input so far.
^^^ You should be able to choose Other non-hybrid. If you're set on getting used 2nd gens, http://priuschat.com/forums/knowled...andard-optional-equipment-some-countries.html should help you compare. Be very careful about non-Tourings misrepresented as Tourings. Tourings cost more/sold for more and have different wheels that are 16". If it's a "Touring" but has 15" wheels and tires, it's most likely not a Touring.
Gotcha. Good note. I'm not dead set on any specific one to be honest. I don't really want any older than 2008, preferably no older than 2009. Id like to have a hybrid. But Prius is my first choice. I just drive to much to drive a 19mpg suv any longer.
Skip the Gen 2 and get a Gen 3 Prius, it's a better car. You can find Gen 3 Prius with low miles and a warranty for the price of that Gen 2 Prius your looking at. Look in craigslist, Priuschat private sale forum, etc.,
Yeah $20,000 is my absolute top dollar right now. Beginning to think I may not be able to find a Prius without a ton of miles on it for that money. I know the C is available but I've driven a couple and I don't think I'd have one unless it was a 3. The others are nice, but if I'm buying a new car I'd like to get what I want
