Thanks all - I will try to hit the Watertown RMV to get some EV plates!

FYI for others - Leominster RMV also did not have any as of yesterday.

I neglected to mention that my Watertown-issued plate was in the 3000-3100 range.

It is nice to know that they're open to using letters to expand the potential from 10,000 to over a million EV plates. I have noticed a mixture of numbers and letters on other premium license plates. In particular, during a leisurely stroll earlier today (no, I have nothing better to do, and, yes, I am retired) through Cambridge's "neighborhood ten", I noticed mixed alphanumeric plates (in the pattern 99AA) for Red Sox/Jimmy Fund and whale tail/"Preserve the Trust" plates. (I also saw a whale tail with an unprefixed 5-digit plate number; I don't know what that was about.)

Could be BISCO, I was going to go to the RMV on Washington Street, but I had to visit a client in Westborough, so just went to the one near where I live instead. Seems each registry has a different block of EV plates... They did state that the lowest plate (starting #) was EV1000

i hope whoever gets 1000 is a member here, but they will probably be connected, no pun intended. somebody at the registry got in trouble a year or two ago for selling low numbers to friends and family.

Massoftwoshits must be getting prepared to charge ev's more because they pay less gas tax.

just a matter of time until they charge more for "ev's" when you register it again

...and i'm sure many states are right behind us..and i don't get the 'hybrid' plate on a hybrid [except for the low number, which i have], kind of like all the harley riders, with their 'harley' jackets, or 'harley ' t-shirts they have to wear while riding their harley, or the bmw owners with 'bmw' license plate frame.
    nothin' personal,steve

the ICEs should get special plates that warn of danger from gasoline fires. I would skip it and just get a decal for my window.

I got mine last week in Braintree...EV 1354. I have only seen one other EV plate. It was in Weymouth, on a car identical to mine. It was EV 1384. They probably also got it in Braintree, so it looks like they have EV 13#4.

I don't think the point is that EVs present a greater danger than gasoline vehicles. The point is that different immobilization/rescue techniques may be required. Emergency personnel do not need to be warned that a car has gasoline, they expect that.

Anyone got a new plate recently? I am closest to the Watertown RMV and wonder if anyone knows what numbers they were up to.
